Depressing visit with a cousin who is a Democrat

A cousin of mine, a life-long democrat, insisted on talking about the war several times. Among the unnerving highlights of her points, Dick Cheney is a pretty good old boy. When I pointed out his outrageous behavior, she refused to accept it. Further, she sees any questioning of Iraq policy as the equvalent of urinating on soldiers. When I pointed out the lies, she reiterated RW media talking points. If there are many Democrats out there like her, we are doomed come fall. I am hoping she is an exception to the rule. Anyone else know Democrats like her?

3. Yes, of course there are.....

....and that is how bush came within a million votes in the popular vote in the last election. But not this time. Do not become discouraged. We have ten months to organize, register, and educate voters. There will be some who do not support the democratic party. That's okay. Don't spent too much time on those who will not support our party, even if they are a relative or friend.

she is very much the "exception to the rule"! With all due respect to your cousin... she sounds like she has her head in the proverbial SAND! And she's in dire need of getting educated! Poor thing.

4. She really is a dear lady

But she was raised, I suppose, to digest whatever the media says. So, when the nightly news, or the cable news networks broadcast their candy-coated propaganda, she just buys it. Just like so many other Americans, like those who worship lying FAUX news.

5. I have been consistently bashing FAUX in the presence of my parents

for about 1 year now. Over Thanksgiving my mother, who voted for * said she wasn't voting for him again. My dad voted for Nader so he'll be voting Dem. Deprogramming works.

1999 I got one just in time for the 2000 selection debacle. I didn't know anything(political naif) and I started watching fauxsux for something different.
But it didn't take me long to realize how bias they were before anyone started talking about it...I banned the station in my home.

Why should we listen to lies and propoganda?

She needs to start digging deeper and I hope you can become a rational influence on her. :)

8. Then there's my Republican Air Force friend who says that Bush

lied about Iraq. His wife is in Baghdad and updates him with the hell that is Iraq almost daily. She's survived a few ambushes and her compound comes under almost nightly mortar attack. He was in Afghanistan for 4 months this year and he said that that place is worse than Iraq!

Sure there Democrats that have their heads in the sand but there are also Republicans that know what's REALLY going on with Bush. People are waking up!

Depressing? Maybe. But you've got 10 months until the election during which you can change her mind. If you plant the seeds of doubt about Bush's policies, then she may find it much more difficult to pull the "Bush" level come November.

FACT: The Attorney General Crisco Johnny Ashcan was given the heads-up about the coming attacks. He was told not to fly commercial and ordered on government charters for his weekend fishing trips to Missouri. Nice treatment. Too bad they didn't warn a the flying public until after 9-11. — Octafish

Ashcroft Flying High

WASHINGTON, July 26, 2001

(CBS) Fishing rod in hand, Attorney General John Ashcroft left on a weekend trip to Missouri Thursday afternoon aboard a chartered government jet, reports CBS News Correspondent Jim Stewart.

In response to inquiries from CBS News over why Ashcroft was traveling exclusively by leased jet aircraft instead of commercial airlines, the Justice Department cited what it called a "threat assessment" by the FBI, and said Ashcroft has been advised to travel only by private jet for the remainder of his term.

"There was a threat assessment and there are guidelines. He is acting under the guidelines," an FBI spokesman said. Neither the FBI nor the Justice Department, however, would identify what the threat was, when it was detected or who made it.

A senior official at the CIA said he was unaware of specific threats against any Cabinet member, and Ashcroft himself, in a speech in California, seemed unsure of the nature of the threat.

13. Don't worry........that is an extreme case. Many repugs are disgusted

with the war's lack of evidence of WMD.

They too want out of the war.

I don't think your friend is a DEM any more........so sad.
