Questions to Ask Republicans

I am tired beyond imagination with having to defend my liberal beliefs. It's time to ask republicans some questions:

Do you agree that it is alright to kill thousands of people for no reason other than greed?

If so, then by all means, vote your conscience.

Do you agree that elderly and disabled people should lose government assistance to maintain housing and be able to purchase basic food supplies?

If so, then by all means, vote your conscience.

Do you believe homeless families should get no help because they deserve their miserable existence?

Vote your conscience.

Do you agree that veterans should wait at least 6 months to see a doctor and be limited in their access to a hospital?

Vote your conscience.

Do you believe that a SEVEN TRILLION DOLLAR NATIONAL DEBT is not something to be concerned about?

Vote your conscience.

Do you believe it is sound foreign policy for this country to pre-emptively attack another sovereign nation because they "might" do something to harm the US?

Vote your conscience.

Do you honestly feel safer now than after 9/11/01? After all, we have been under constant pressure to feel fear.

Vote your conscience.

Do you believe it is a fair trade to get rid of the Bill of Rights in order to feel more "secure"

Vote your conscience.

Do you believe that the founders of this nation were wrong in including the separation of church and state in the Constitution?

Vote your conscience.

Do you believe the ongoing assault on privacy rights is good for the average citizen?

Vote your conscience.

Do you believe it is alright for this government to lie to American citizens regarding the reason to send hundreds of American youth to their deaths in a war?

Vote your conscience.

Do you believe it is alright to remove funding for Head Start and other educational programs because the money is needed for military uses?

Vote your conscience. If you have one.

I would word them differently. The way you phrased it is way to polite. The sheeple won't get it.

Not that I dont agree with your intent but these types of questions can, and do, backfire. My repub coworker nailed me on this one...

I asked, do you think bush should continue to support the saudi royal families' control over our oil imports? His answer (or lack of an answer) was a standard clinton bashing line...should we continue to pay off north korea until they give up their nuclear program. He wasnt serious but he made a point about how I phrased the question. (He likened that question to something Bush Limbaugh would ask!!!)

Half the reason I came to the this board was for ammunition. I am surrounded on all sides by fairly astute repubs. (Im not all that politically savvy so I need the help) Some of the questions are valid but the others wont fly among the more ardent supporters of bushy.

That would mean they have been lying about their tax plans, and I haven't seen a case made for that. Bush himself admitted he has lied to the American people.

To answer a question with another (and misrepresentative of the facts) question is only a weak diversionary tactic.

not a statement... the point was, some of the questions you ask are like asking ."when did you stop beating your wife" In fact, you have outlined the point I was trying to make. "Do you believe it is ok for democrats to continue lying about their tax plans?" is a ridiculous and unfair question. It leaves no plausible answer.


And yes, answering a question with a question is evasive but I brought it up because my coworker nailed me on using that type of "no-answer" question.

I do agree with your intent, just not the way the questions were phrased.

yep, ridiculous because no evidence exists to support this contention. The questions I asked all are able to be backed up with evidence. There's the difference.

It can be argued that there is no evidence to support this contention also.

or...

This question assumes that the we must make a compromise between the bill of rights and feeling more secure, via bush.

Again, I understand your intent, just dont think the way you phrased the questions will hold up.

14. Okay

1) Bush himself and Wolfowitz also, stated they did not tell the truth to the american public about the reasons for this war.

2) The reason the american people were given for the Patriot Act and Homeland Security was to increase security. Civil rights were given up in the process. It happened.

1- Neither bush nor wolfowitz ever said they did not tell the truth (we might assume it from there language but they never said it) I defy you to prove me wrong (hoping)

2- Civil rights were given up, correct, but that was not your question. You mentioned giving up the entire bill of rights, not specific libertites.

18. Let's see now..........

Bush said many times that Osama and Hussein were linked. There had even been meetings in Baghdad between Iraqi officials and Al Qaeda. Then, he said:

"We have no evidence that Saddam Hussein was involved with the 11 September attacks " President George W. Bush 9/17/03"

It might be nit picking to say he never actually said Hussein was in on 9/11, but most definitely the impression (important to many) was that he was.

"Bush wasn't the only government official to retract the false statements about 9/11. Paul Wolfowitz, the Deputy Secretary of Defense, also admitted he did not feel Iraq had any connection to 9/11. Wolfowitz made his statement on August 1st, well over a month before Bush came clean."

16. yeah, these questions aren't fair.

They are typical straw-man arguments; you ask a rhetorical question amounting to whether or not the person supports a rediculous stance, and then suggest the immediate imparative "vote your conscience" as a natural consequence of the answer "no" to that question.

It would be easy to ask in a poll,
"would you rather have a tax cut or a cure for cancer"?
And then report
"few support tax cuts"
