This is incredible...

By Sen. Judy Robson

As manufacturing jobs disappear nationwide, so too have they disappeared in cities I represent, especially Beloit. I routinely hear from constituents who are unable to find employment.

When people cannot find work for weeks or months on end, they may put their pride aside and apply for a Wisconsin Quest card, the electronic debit card that replaced paper food stamps.

When these down-on-their-luck folks have a question about their Quest card or account, they call a toll-free number that reaches a call center not in Madison, not in Green Bay, not in Eau Claire … but in India.

It is cruel irony that unemployed cardholders find themselves speaking with a person using a fake American name and a fake American accent who is employed through a state of Wisconsin contract....

1. I know governments are strapped,
but they should show some loyalty in their own constituencies and hire from within.

5. Seems that if the state has an unemployment problem
they ought to hire in-state. Citizens should be able to make politicians miserable with this issue. The state should never be allowed to hire out of state if there are state citizens with the necessary skills who need a job.

I think this is an issue right and left would agree on. At least most of us in the working classes. The exploiter class of course will fight tooth and nail to rip off the workers of this country in any way possible in the name of saving money.

Well, guess what, when you hire an Indian worker, a real taxpayer in your state no longer has an income and no longer pays taxes. What next? Evict state citizens? Import new immigrants to take their places? Ones who are happy to work for nothing?

We have the means to end this shit now. Refuse to deal with anyone who is not an American where your personal government business is concerned. Hang up on them. Say you can't understand what they are saying. Ask for an American supervisor. Gum up the fucking works.

The last time I got a call from India, a guy from Sally Mae (student loan program) wanted me to send my payment although I had not received a bill. I refused. Said, "No bill. No pay." Over and over and over. Also said if they wished to discuss it further, I would gladly speak to an American who understood how billing works in this country. Guess who won? I got a bill before they got a payment. No tax savings there.

Don't play their game. Make it harder to use cheap foreign labor with no understanding of American ways of doing business. I almost NEVER let the first worker I talk to stop me. I always go to the supervisor. I ask where the worker lives, what the weather is like, their name, etc. I refuse to do business with strangers. If someone calls me to talk about my account or I call them, I am going to get as much information as the person on the other end of the line.

Also, once off the line, I will call and complain about the service I received. Even if the service was fine. I don't wish to be served by individuals who have taken my friends' and neighbors' jobs or who are taking my tax dollars out of the country. And I am incensed that my personal information is made available to foreign nationals without my express permission. I feel the same way I did when my state tried to outsource the park reservation system to a local prison.

If 10 million Americans followed my lead by making a stink to holy heaven everytime this happened to them in the next year, we'd see those jobs come scurrying back home in a hurry.

That's how workers band together. Fuck the scabs no matter where they are. And fuck the bosses who pull this shit! Politicians need to be reamed over this. Either that or their jobs should be outsourced too.

My Subway...when I found out they were outsourcing to India, I decided to keep the one I have. I upgraded it at the local re-pc store for $36. Saved money and recycled some old computer hardware. As for outsourcing politicians...lets do it.

Edit: Ya'll remember that giant sucking sound Ross Perot was talking about in his campaign? Well it is here with a vengence and fury.
