Best "Bush In 30 Seconds" ad (moveon.org)
Edited on Mon Jan-05-04 04:57 PM by Paragon
Let the DU jury decide.

http://www.bushin30seconds.org/

My choice: CHILD'S PAY by Charlie Fisher of Denver, CO

Honorable mention: POLYGRAPH by Rich Garella, Adam Feinstein of New York, NY

(on edit: I liked DESKTOP by David Haynes of Dallas, TX - but POLYGRAPH is better.)

Might have to change my Honorable Mention vote...

11. We have to buy time during the superbowl, the Oscars, and the last Friends
America has to see these commercials.

22. Do you know how much it costs to advertise during the Super Bowl?
A 30-second ad run during last year's Super Bowl cost $2.1 million to air, not including production costs.

I'm sure the Oscars and similarly-rated programs are somewhere near that figure, as well.

It's where we're headed - a real-life horror movie.

4. Humor works best (the devil hates to be mocked)
I like "What Are We Teaching Our Children?", "Leave No Billionaire Behind" and "Desktop"

But they are ALL good!

This election cycle is going to break new ground. We are channeling all that frustration into creative action.

We will win!

5. I liked the "What are we teaching our children"
It was very believable- I hate the melodramatic ones. They lack credibility. But seeing those kids saying those things really got to me, for some reason.

I liked them all, though.

13. I like that one best too, but I think Bush's repair shop is a close second
I agree that we should pick a humorous one, otherwise we are just "angry" Democrats

15. And I think that kids grab people's
attention, too. The kids had a lot of personality- it was kind of refreshing hearing them say these things. I think that ad would go over really well with people.

I had problems with Mozilla, so I dragged the links for the adds into a RealOne Player Media Browser.

9. I agree
Everything about Child's Pay was superior to the others. From message to production.

The lying theme(s), although entirely accurate, doesn't make a difference to a lot of people for some reason. Apathetic Americans don't seem to care, or so it would seem. People do care about their kids, regardless of their political stripes.

But some are preaching to the choir. Which would be best at convincing the unconvinced?

That's exactly what I asked myself when every time I voted--"What would I think of this if I were a freeper?" The results? Six of my picks made the final, four of which I have given straight 5s!

Preaching to the choir won't work; hitting 'em where they live will.

16. lots of excellent ads
I'm watching them right now so I haven't yet made up my mind. Polygraph and "What are we teaching our children?" are my two favs so far.

The ones that only talk about how Bush lies probably won't carry much weight, IMO.

Kudos to Moveon for running this campaign! I hope to see one of these commercials air. They're targeted only to certain cities, right? If so, then I'm prolly outta luck.

17. Most all are good....but....
My vote goes to CHILD'S PAY. That was REALLY good. I also liked "DESKTOP"...."POLYGRAPH" is good but so much of that could very well be proven otherwise at anytime. CHILD'S PAY was powerful.

19. In case you didn't know a DU'r has a dog in this fight
My ARMY OF ONE ad is on the page and we're pretty proud of it -- I do have to admit there's a LOT of good work there :)

I like the kids too, who wouldn't!

A ton of wit, power and pith - They are already worried, that's why people Like Gillespie is on CNN trashing MoveOn.org while Limbaugh takes potshots..

this ain't no coincidence, the KKKarl Rove fax machine is glowing cherry red.. they know that the unveiling of one of these ads is coming up soon..

I wouldn't be surprised if a BILLION bucks were to be whipped up for either a social program or the Veterans over these ads just as they sit right now, threatening the re-selection of bush..

It is a great add. I just said in another reply that I think soldiers and civilians dying for lies is the most powerful image. All of the adds were great. I also like What are We Teaching our Children. In this election year it makes wonder what they are voting for.
