Metro Guard Unit Leaves For Duty in Iraq
MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) A ceremony was planned Tuesday at Dobbins Air Reserve Base for some 200 members of a National Guard unit that is leaving for year-long tour of duty in Iraq.
Members of the Georgia Army National Guard's 171st Combat Aviation Support Battalion based in Marietta will board buses for Fort Knox, Ky., about an hour after the 10 a.m. ceremony, Guard officials said.
The unit flies UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters. It was among more than 150 National Guard and Reserve units alerted in the latest round of troop rotations.
