DC DUers. Query re Valerie Plame.
A letter to the editor in the Colorado Springs Gazette on Sunday stated that Valerie Plame's name is listed in the phone directory under the CIA listing. It also stated that Bill Clinton was responsible for ruining the CIA during his administration. I know that is dumb, but, is the CIA listed and is Valerie's name listed as well?

This is probably just some lame rumor started by the Republicans but, could you check out? It's beginning to bug me.

Thanks, :D

2. What phone directory?
Edited on Wed Jan-07-04 05:08 PM by DoYouEverWonder
That's a little ambiguous. I didn't know the CIA was in the habit of listing agents phone numbers in the phone book?

3. Colorado Springs???
Right wing armpit of Colorado. I'm pretty sure it is not standard operating procedure to put the names of NCO's in the phone book. Pure, unmitigated garbage.

4. I assumed the Washington DC directory. Would they list any names?
And we aren't an armpit, but we are rapidly becoming a varmint infested desert.

Actually, I was wondering if it was one of those talking points the Republican Party disseminates to its loyalists to spread innuendo, etc, in local and regional papers.

6. For starters, I thought the CIA was in Langley, VA not Wash. DC.
And I'll bet they're not in that phonebook, either!

Go get those varmints, MissMarple!

5. phone your newspaper's editor...
...and ask him to research that information and report back to the readers. Ask him what newspaper policy is regarding the truthfulness of LTE.

7. Easy Enough...
Can't we just look up anything on line at yellowpages.com? I think if it's listed it would be available...sounds like made-up freeper shite.

8. I tried the yellowpages on my MSN homepage, but I couldn't get in.

And on yellowpages.com, it's the same. This page cannot be displayed.

Argh.... But thanks for the suggestion.

Maybe I should just call the paper. But, they won't know. The Gazette is a libertarian rag owned by a family from Orange County.
And they print lots of letters with blatant misinformation.

9. I tried several online yellow and white pages.
The CIA is listed but no Plame. The writer of the letter is a liar. A stupid one.

Much has been written of the public record on Valerie Plame and the front company with which she was associated. If the information in the letter was true, the Reich wing would have instructed all the obedient media to blare this information non-stop. Plus, after recusing himself because of the evil contained in the telephone directories, Ashcroft would have appointed a telephone operator to conduct the investigation.
