Home, ill, flipping through TV channels seeing that
this is the beginning of the media hitting the Dems. Noticed that the several short spots on the candidates were all negative. I didn't see Fox, but CNN and MSNBC seem to be gearing up to help Rove discredit the Dems. Newsweek (Howard Fineman) really trashed Dean.

Again, we are going to win this on the ground, door to door.

1. Forget the media
Edited on Wed Jan-07-04 02:24 PM by hatrack
Actually, I was going to say something else beginning with "f" regarding the Corpo-Whores, but what's the use?

You are dead on target. This is going to be a ground war. And if the Club for Growth's raving spew on Dean is any indication of the caliber of media purchases to watch for, that groaning sound you just heard was America reaching for its remote in search of the mute button.

3. That Club for Growth ad is a RIOT!
This is the Republican's problem; they ALWAYS overplay their hand. I know, I know, we're in a tight spot right now, but let's face facts. We managed to hold onto the presidency of the United States for 8 years, and win the subsequent election IN SPITE of a plague of scandals (I know), twice as much money in the coffers of the opposing party, and the media and large corporations working against us.

Now that Republicans wrestle the presidency back for themselves, do they use it for the good of the country? Of course not. And in their zeal for total domination, they put two of the WORST actors I have ever seen on talking the way no Iowan talks. The ad is an insult, but not to Howard Dean.

5. Do they meet in a treehouse ? (on Hannity &Colmes last night)
Edited on Wed Jan-07-04 03:26 PM by underpants
Colmes wan't there so there was no one to argue strongly for the left :eyes:

The numbers they put up (courtesy of the "club for Growth") showed very clearly that Dean would raise tax levels to the highest point ever.

I haven't seen any real analysis of what his plan (if he has concretely put one forward) but I didn't out a lot of stock in their numbers. I think they based them on Dean saying he would repeal the W's tax break, that is the WHAT but what is the HOW, TO WHOM, WHEN and so forth.

9. Anyone who falls for that ad would vote for Bush anyway
Its a dud for them. People in PA really recoiled when they saw ads like that in recent elections and rejected the candidate running them. (Fisher, Turzai)

2. Yep, that's pretty much all there is
on cable news and now even the network news and local news: a desperate search to investigate and trash anything that might appear to be linked to a liberal.

There's a virtual gold mine in Pulitzer prise winning investigative stories of outright crime and corruption there for the taking, but we will never see it.

4. Actually I was impressed with the Newsweek coverage of Dean
They inadvertently compared him to FDR. They said the last candidate to be treated like Dean by the Democratic Party was FDR. I have not gone with Dean as my candidate but will vote for him if he gets the nomination. Newsweek was quite fair in their reporting IMHO.

6. pretty much
the '04 campaign is going 2 B hand 2 hand combat. Take care of yourself, get well, get out your front door 'n join the fight! The creationists invading the Grand Canyon pisses me off beyond belief and I got out my front door over a year ago. On the ground, on the web, in the trenches, it is up 2 us and we have 2 step up, meet the challenge 'n take 'em on! Don't expect ANY assistance from the corporate media. They're spending $2,000 a plate on dinners w/ a chimp.

8. Maybe Fox would have balanced out the bad coverage?
They are fair and balanced after all.
