I saw on TV here in Tucson that Republicans are switching parties

in higher numbers than ever before.

One lady said some are doing it to vote for Dean because they consider him a good opponent for Bush to beat up on, which I don't agree with at all. But....

One guy, about 65 or so, gets on tv and says:"I'm a life long Republican, but I'm switching parties because Bush scares me, because of the infringement of liberties and everything."

I don't care what the polls have been saying lately. It's just a short spike because of Saddam and the supposed economic boom. When people recognize that jobs aren't coming back, soldiers are still dying and the Wilson-Plame affair ousts Karl Rove, Bush's little leap will evaporate quicker than the projected budget surplus.

about as much as I trust this administration- not at all

they NEED to show Bush doing well in the polls, so that 1) diebold victories don't seem incongruous, 2) so dumb-asses will vote for him to go along with the "majority", and 3) so Bush himself thinks people love him

Out front it's "Bush got rid of evil Saddam... he is pRezident and he's doing what's right for us... he a great leader because he sticks to his guns."

In private, or in asides in whispers it's "Son of a gun I can not believe what Bush is doing... how do we stop him?"

5. My family is the same way..

My father has in general has been more republican but Bush and company just plain scares him. (especially ashcroft) They are not going to be voting for Bush and most likely for the Dem candidate. (unfortunately they are still registered republicans. )

They have come a long way partially might be my coming out to them 6 or 7 years ago and part might be the continued pandering the republicans give to the fundamentalist Christians.

I once considered myself a Republican (mainly as a way to deny to myself that I am gay etc... ) Once I really looked at my beliefs I realized they didn't have anything to do with being a republican. IE I didn't understand the reason republicans do not want to grant the same protections to the GLBT community as to everyone else.

I believe the republicans have to be very careful and not drift to far to the right or they are going to lose people in droves. My parents are fairly religious but they don't want our government to be religious.

8. it is odd, isn't it?

i've been looking for a trueblue bush supporter for months now, and i just can't seem to find one...

a friend of mine says his ex-special forces dad, a lifelong rethug, hates bush more than anything. it's because of the 'bring em on' quote- that was what turned this guy.

in my job, i interview people all the time, and often get to their political orientations. without exception, every self-identified republican has told me that they are angry with bush for something; last week it was over the WMD lies, last year it was over the stem cell thing, i'm sure i'll be hearing anger over the immigration decision as well.

i agree with previous posters: polls are usually nothing but lies, designed to make the diebold created totals seem real, to continue to brainwash the sheep who vote because they think other people vote in a certain way, and of course, to keep the King Chimp happy in his little bubble of unreality.

6. Saw the same Newscast

It seems to be true and according to the reporter, the numbers are at
the hundred mark. And the main reason is because of fear of what another term under Bush might result in.

There's just not enough of them that will switch parties to make a statistical difference. If the strategy worked, we'd all be using it...at which point I guess it wouldn't work any more.....


This is a non-issue. We have to concentrate on getting people registered and selling an anti-Bush agenda. The rest will fall into place.
