American Dynasty:
Aristocracy, Fortune, and the Politics of Deceit in the House of Bush
-----------------

Rarely has a former Republican White House Aide (to President Nixon) written such a profoundly devastating and frightening analysis of the Bush family cartel. Kevin Phillips, author of "Wealth and Democracy," cogently makes the case that George W. Bush represents the restoration of the Bush dynasty to power, rather than an elected Presidency.

snip

"Few have looked at the facts of the family's rise, but just as important, commentators have neglected the thread -- not the mere occasion -- of special interests, biases, scandals (especially those related to arms dealing), and blatant business cronyism" Phillips writes in his preface. "The evidence that accumulates over four generations is really quite damning."

"Three generations of immersion in the culture of secrecy...deceit and disinformation have become Bush political hallmarks," Phillips notes.

Entitlement, elitism, privilege, secrecy, mediocrity, corruption, financial cronyism, bailouts of family failures by the taxpayers -- these are some of the true characteristics of the Bush Dynasty, according to Phillips.

1. The author was on Scarborough County last night...

Scarborough was unable to put the smack-down on Phillips, as he detailed the Bush Family Evil Empire.

Very interesting stuff - chronicling the BFEE from Prescott Bush (he of 'trading with the Nazis fame') to pResident Evil.

If I were him, no small airplanes for a while (ala Fortunate Son author).

3. "There's an interview with that guy..."
in the latest issue of Rolling Stone. If $mirky is starting to lose the support of hardcore Republicans, then I think we can safely assume that this is the beginning of the end for him. :D

4. I've listened to commentaries...
.... from Mr. Phillips on NPR over the years. They are few and far between now, but he was on this morning talking about the Bushs*.

Long after I identified myself as a "liberal", I still had a great deal of respect for Kevin Phillips. His commentaries often focused on economics, and economic justice of a kind. I did not always agree with him, but he always puts forth an honest argument, using facts instead of slogans.

It is easy to forget that the enemy is not all "conservatives", it is a special brand of conservatives. People like Mr. Phillips remind us that not all conservatives are hypocritical assholes with the integrity of Al Capone.

I'm betting that not even a majority of "conservatives" would approve of Bush* under a bright spotlight. Thanks to Kevin Phillips for turning on the light!
