AL Franken under attack from Worldnetdaily.com

If you go to Worldnetdaily.com, their "Breaking News" story for today has the Headline, "Is Al Franken a Lying Liar?" Here is the story you are sent to: http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=36497

The article does nothing more than plug a new website claiming to refute many "Lies" in AL Franken's book. I went to the site they talk about. At the time of my visit, only 7700 people had visited the site. I guess that's "breaking news". I am sure this number will go up now that Worldnetdaily has mentioned it as their "top story". Conveniently, the founder of this site does not reveal his name, so we are free to assume he has some connections to WorldNetDaily. The WND story also goes so far as to read excerpts from "some" of the letters the site has received. Apparently only four letters are posted so far.

I wanted to bring this to everybody's attention. What's More funny, is that the way this person "refutes" many of Franken's claims, is to cite Conservative books such as Richard Miniter's "Losing Bin Laden" in one case.

1. That's funny (ha ha funny). Franken's book is carefully

cited for authority. He had a Harvard group of assistants.

His words may be inflammatory at times, since he's a satirist (and a very funny one at that), but his facts are solid. Franken's Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them....A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right book is filled with lies told by the right and Fox News (really...hence the title of the book!).

Such a book can stand up to criticism. But they better watch out. If the attack is too vicious, he'll write a book about it and get another best seller.

In December he was part of a USO tour performing for troops in Iraq, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and Kuwait. The tour lasted eight days, and he returned Christmas Day. He'll talk about the tour and do some of his routine from it. Franken's books include Lies and the Lying Liars who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right and Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot. Franken is an alumnus of Saturday Night Live, where his most memorable character was the simpering self-help sap Stuart Smalley.

Another Franken claim the site takes on is that former Bush foreign policy adviser Richard Armitage "bolted" from a Senate hearing and " over veteran reporter Helen Thomas, breaking her hip and jaw."

They really CAN'T take a joke, can they? They wouldn't know a joke if it jumped up and bit them on the ass. It's not passed funny and gone straight to frightening...

13. Sorry but Franken took ALOT of artistic license

in Lying liars. He says its satire but that doesnt get him off the hook. I would have much preferred if had stuck to pure satire. It would have been funnier and kept him off the suspect list. Good reading but he cant have it both ways.
