Ha Ha! PETA gets Beef.com Internet Site.....
http://rockymountainnews.com/drmn/local/article/0,1299,DRMN_15_2560460,00.html

<snip>The cattle industry has a new beef with animal rights activists.

PETA - People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals - has nabbed the Internet domain name beef.com and turned it into a site warning the public of the dangers of mad cow disease.

"Mad cow disease hits the United States - it's mad to eat meat," shouts the Web site, which goes on to warn consumers of the dangers associated with eating beef.

The new Web page is particularly galling to the owners of a similarly named site, beef.org, run by the National Cattlemen's Beef Association, based in Centennial.

"PETA is trying to unnecessarily scare consumers by leasing the Web domain www.beef.com to take advantage of the case of (mad cow) disease in Washington state," said a statement from the cattlemen's group.

.....Ha Ha HA... Take That NCBA!!

2. Excellent
There are pro-beef commercials all over TV that lie like crazy.

People often say that humans have always eaten animals, as if this is a justification for continuing the practice. According to this logic, we should not try to prevent people from murdering other people, since this has also been done since the earliest of times.

6. I. LOVE. IT. This is HYSTERICAL! and a definite COUP for PETA...
whom I happen to be a huge fan of.

They do good work and stand for good, and important issues.

We need them to work on OUR behalf and on behalf of all critters.

Good for them!

10. Hear, hear!
PETA gives the rest of us who care about the treatment of animals a bad name. A really bad name.

11. Yup.
I like this move by PETA, but it's one of a very few moves that is worthy of their supposed mission.

12. PETA is a trademark, Beef is a word in the English language
That is the difference.

You can buy and use Clothes.com, you cannot buy and use Walmart.com.

14. Weird, man...
My company owns highlandpress.com. Someone wanted to buy highlandpress.net (or some other TLD); the registrar e-mailed us to find out if we wanted to buy it first.

I wonder how this PETA thing happened.

17. No, this is lame.
Squatting is one thing, but this fails the reason test. Could someone visiting beef.com be looking to buy beef? Yes. Like poultry.com.

PETA is contributing to the expanding uselessness of the most revolutionary communication system since the megaphone. What if I visit jogging.com and find a message about the advantages of motorcross bikes?

Reeeaaaal clever. Probably $25K or more.
