Americans don't care
After almost a year of searching, we've yet to turn up a single WMD. Bush propagandists, when confronted with this issue, have a standard response:
"Americans don't care about WMDs."

That's it. They'll then move the conversation to something else.

What kind of lame-ass, stupid reason is that? Since Americans don't care the issue is rendered irrelevant? How fucking stupid do these right-wing nutcases think we are? I mean, it's not like Bush made speech after speech where he talked about the imminent threat posed by Iraq and its WMDs. Oh wait, he did. He gave the speech before Congress, which then authorized the use of force in Iraq; he mentioned it in his State of the Union address; he sent Colin Powell to the U.N. Security Council to lay out the case of WMDs; and it was the pretext for us attacking Iraq when Bush announced in March that we'd be going to war with Iraq.

Why can't they just say, "It appears the intelligence regarding WMDs was not accurate." What's so fucking hard about telling the truth?

Americans don't care.
I care.

1. Somebody should use this in a campaign ad.
Just his own words. The SOTU and now. And the admission that they lied.

2. It might be more accurate to say that Americans don't
expect anything better from their elected officials. They're cynical. They expect lies and sophistry.

That's alot more troubling to me than any single incident of government fraud.

3. Most don't.
While the more liberal elements DO tend to care, the rest...well. They aren't worried about facts, logic, reason or even common sense. They want gratification for their emotional needs. If killing Iraqis over non-existent threats does the trick, then that is what they care about. Nothing else. Truth means very little to the average American these days.

See C.M.Kornbluths' "The Marching Morons" short story. :(

6. They sure seemed to care about WMD's a year ago
It isn't that they do or don't care...its that they don't THINK. Things just ARE. Whatever happens to be the story of the day, they just want to be informed...no questioning of what should or could be...things just ARE.
