Like the Friday flicks and half of Elm Street entries which had preceded this, no one would mistake Freddy vs. Jason for a quality film. I'll be damned, though, if I hadn't had this much fun in a movie theater since The Lord of the Rings. The only flaw would have to be its propensity for focusing on the vacant teen characters; the plodding narrative gives way to bombast whenever the two killers are together.
The entire theater exploded in laughter when Jason takes hold of Freddy's body and drags it through the side of the cabin, as well as the scene wherein Freddy propels Jason through the air like a pinball, accompanied by sexual thrusts.
So drop the pretension and admit that this was an entertaining horror flick.
