Jesus loves you!
That's all. Just wanted to have one thread in the Lounge today that wasn't God bashing.

Please keep it that way :-)

7. Jesus was KEWL.
Plus, he'd most likely be a liberal democrat if he were "in the flesh" today. He might even go chase the money changers out of the temple of democracy.

10. I don't know what went before on this forum . . .
Actually I had a very pleasant day in Harper's Ferry, WV, but I do want to tell you this:

I'm not a practicing Christian but whenever someone mentions Jesus and his overwhelling love and dying for us I am emotionally moved.

Whenever someone who is Hindu gives me a blessing of fruit for fasting I am emotionally moved.

Whenever I experience nature, I am emotionally moved.

So maybe I experience the joy of a Creator through any means that my friends choose to express. And that is my religion.

Peace and love to all,

11. But it's usually NOT folks like you...
...who scream "JESUS LOVES YOU" at people. Sorry, but it gives me the willies seeing this posted on DU. Maybe it should be posted at the FreeRepuke instead.

14. so what?
Allah loves you. So does Thor. So does Karnak. So does Santa Claus. So does Zeus. Any other imaginary types I left out?

Oh, BTW, do you know who really loves you? Your significant other, your family and a good number of your friends. None of them are invisible and you can prove that everyone of them was born and exists.

IMO, that's as real as love gets - and it's pretty spectacular.

You can keep your invisible boogie men, good and/or evil - or, more likely, indifferent.

15. Who would Jesus Kill?
No one is my guess, I'm not a Christian, but he is my favorite Jew, I especially loved it when he kicked over the tax table....

16. If you believe the Bible,
Edited on Sat Aug-16-03 07:18 PM by stopbush
JC killed a fig tree for failing to sprout fruit out of season when he ordered it to do so.

The Bible also says that Jesus fashioned a whip and drove the money changers out of the temple, overturning their tables in the process and, I imagine, beating them with HIS whip. Sort of difficult to imagine the god-of-the-universe-incarnate-in-the-flesh being so pissed off over a pretty minor detail in the universal scheme of things. But then, these are fables we're talking about, not real events or real people. BTW - I've had rw-ers cite the "temple whipping" story as proof positive that JC (ie: God) approves of violence against others if the "cause is righteous." They, of course, reserve the right to define what is righteous!

As far as "can you imagine" things, can you imagine Mother Teresa or Ghandi (in his later life) resorting to such violent means as did the SofG in these little tales?

17. I'm glad to hear that Jesus loves me.
Edited on Sat Aug-16-03 07:28 PM by moosedog
I met a young man when we were traveling out in Arizona. His name was Jesus. I never forgot him. He was so nice and kind and wanted to know if we are rich. I suppose to him, we were. Well, now I have named one of my dolls, that was made for me by by another doll collector that likes me a lot. The doll looks very Spanish. She made this doll for me. We have Jesus here in our home to love and cherish. I think the real Jesus is alive and well and I can prove it. It's just a feeling. Mrs. Moose Oh.. and I think it is important to think very carefully how we show the love for Jesus. It must be in good taste and not just thrown out any old way. That is my opinion. I always worry that he might be saying," Not in my name".
