A fine article on the G5 and Panther (OSX)
I got a feeling they like what they see.

http://www.infoworld.com/reports/SRapple.html

I am saving my pennies in hope of buying a new G5. I want the top line Dual, but it is out of my price range, and actually I do not need a high powered workstation, the mid range would do fine.

Side view of G5 with case open, and fans removed. The fans click in, no wires. Jonathan Ives, the head designer is a genius.

8. Wait a year, and that top-of-the-line G5 will be the bottom-of-the-line

and CHEAP. And the bugs will be worked out. And there'll be plenty of software that uses the full capabilities of the new machine.

And sooner-or-later (probably sooner), today's top-of-the-line will be a truly inexpensive eMac. Somewhere between 1 and 2 years, I'd guess...

I always buy one jump behind the leading edge of technology -- it's so much cheaper. And -- the money I save gives me the option of upgrading sooner, if I so choose; by delaying getting my G5, I'll be better able to afford a G6 or 7 when they come out... Or, rather, a year or so after they come out...

Good luck!

9. No telling where they may go from here.
There is talk of quad Xserve and desktops. I

If you can find the Jonathan Ives movie discussing the hardware design of the G5, take the time to watch it. He really points out why the G5 is as it is. The construction alone is a revolution in computer design.

No doubt that this piece of hardware will take home numerous awards.
