Freepers discuss new Dinosaur find in India.
Apparently, dinosaurs are dividers, not uniters.....and don't fuss at me for posting a Freeper thread. At least I put it in the lounge.

4. Oh Brother!...
Reading the posts ( Freerepublic) that have to do with Dinosaurs is like talking to a 3rd grader that has read one lousy book on the subject.

The one freeper that keeps insisting that dinosaurs roamed with man is just unbelievable....I don't know what to say...

dinosaurs were probably on the ark - but he, being 600 years old, of course would have been wise enough not to put a full grown dinosaur on the ark (my paraphrase).

salin: I do not know what I would do - if someone said this in ernest to me.

Another tidbit... Did you know that only 55% of scientists believe in evolution? :eyes:

ohhhhh... says one "the evoloonies"... hehe is that a bit of projection?

Wow - that was really quite... er.. interesting to read.

Dinosaurs roamed with man?

Dinosaurs were on the Ark?

Somehow I don't quite see an image of Noah coaxing two Velociraptor onto a wooden boat.

Hmm...T-rex, et. al, vs early man.....I think if I had to take that bet, my money would be on the dinosaurs.

I wonder if he was old enough to know that taking baby dinosaurs pisses Mommy off big time?

Guess this part never made it into Genesis...

8. Too funny....
I just finished reading all 608 posts...absolutely fascinating.

* It appears that they got a real evolution vs creation flame war going....they have some kind of paper agreement not to flame, but 50% of the postings are accusations that one side or the other is violating it.

* If I didn't know better, I see the hands of a playful DUer or 2 making like miserable for the fundies on that site. As expected, the articulate evolutionists are killing the creations with their logical facts.

*608 posts...maybe 50-60 actually said something.

What a community....

9. Why are they still debating this?
Did they all take any science classes in school? They do know there is scientific proof behind theories. Or did the southern or conservitive local schools just tell them the talking snake theory of evolution and leave science at that. I guess they went on to learn how to handle snakes "come on boy' put your hand in that sack and grab ya' a big ol' rattler."

10. this is not funny
I wish it were, but it isn't

when I was younger, during the rise of the neocon movement in the late 60's and early 70's, the political ideals of the neocons were laughed in much the same way as we laugh at the creationists.

It's not a foregone conclusion, but this is what the front-end of a dark ages looks like. Widespread willful ignorance, disregard of the facts, shouting superstitious mumbo jumbo until it is believed, marginalizing the truth at every step.

We have to stop these people, people.

Or am I just being paranoid?

young-earth creationism will have bad effects if it's injected into the curriculae of general schools.
Dark ages are generally caused by social collapse and barbarian invasions.
And if I hear how Rupert Murdoch is using David Ducovny to rot our minds and bring on an era of superstition, I'm going to scream.

13. Just for the record, Dad and I DID create dinosaurs.
But we knew a boat that big would never stay afloat for 40 days and 40 nights, so Dad told Noah to leave the big lizards out of the loop. One of them adapted to the water and moved to what is now Scotland. The rest of them returned to Heaven.

17. it's a documented fact
Cavemen killed dinosaurs.

they used Raquel Welch as bait and when the dinosaurs came after her, it fell into a big pit. They threw rocks at it and then had a big dino barbeque.

I saw this on the Discovery Channel or AMC or somewhere.

Really.

Man.... dinosaurs weren't just big lizards, they were archosaurs. They are anatomically very much closer to crocdiles and birds than lizards. Even creationists take comparative anatomy seriously...

And that's just about all I'm going to say after having had my IQ lowered by about 30 reading through that thread...

23. Oh I love this shit
"Noah put animals in the ark according to KIND, not species. You can have several different variations within say the dog family, but you only had to have a minimal amount of original ancestors. Dinosaurs were likely on the ark, and are likely mentioned in the Bible as well. Noah was old enough (over 600) to know not to bring full grown dinosaurs on the boat when babies could do."

What a dumbass. Dinosaurs lived with men? Noah?

Have these people ever considered that the Bible is not a true, word-for-word account of history?
This bullshit rambling sounds like a stupid children's story.

Dear god, is there any way I can get back the last half hour of my life? I not only feel more ignorant after having read that thread, but I feel rather dirty as well. Surely there's not a sizeable portion of the population that is this stupid. I refuse to think of these people as my fellow man.

Yeah. I have heard about that. And the natives from the region who see drawings of a pterodactyl (I'm not sure if that's right myself in spelling) recognize it as a living species in their region. They also fear them.

ER, I know a lot of people in New Zealand. And even drunk they won't mention ever seeing a fucking pterodactyl. and you'd think, as biologists and naturalists, they'd mention it on occasion, right? Where the fuck do you hide a pterodactyl in a country the size of Colorado?

freeper dittohead

Very intelligent man and well educated.

But whenever his extremist religious dogma would bubble to the surface (triggered by any number of keywords that might come up in conversation), it just totally shut down his ability to reason. It was frightening to watch--like seeing someone in the process of a psychotic breakdown, or having a front row seat for a real Jeckyll and Hyde show. I must admit I really enjoyed pushing his buttons. It was so easy and so absurd.

Creepy.

That part is funny. Despite what Jurassic Park III taught us, a human could fell a fairly large pterosaur like Pteranodon longiceps with a fairly stiff kick in the head. They had well muscled wings, and not much else, and would be the boxing equivalent of a very large pelican.

Incidentally...... Pteranodon means "wing without teeth", yet the JP3 Pteranodon had teeth!

36. Can someone spare me a read through this shit and just tell me:
Where in the Bible do they think it mentions dinosaurs? More idiocy, no doubt.

There is a translation of the Bible that reads: "There were giants in the Earth in those days..." and I've heard fundies talking about how once giants roamed the Earth. 'Says so in th' Bahble!'

The actual translation of the passage is: "There were important people on the Earth in those days." Which makes much more sense when you read in context. The chapter then goes on to name the patriarchs of all the important tribes. Important people, y'see?
