Was cleaning out my desk today, and came across my autographed postcard from Socks Clinton!

Sorry, I don't have a scanner here, but it's a 5x7 card with a full colour photo of Socks on the White House lawn, with the statement:

"Thank you for writing to me. I am honored to be your "First Cat".

(signed with a paw print)

Back on the bookcase it goes, framed and in a place of honour!

First Lady Laura Bush has hinted that following in the footsteps of her mother-in-law, Barbara, she may write a book about First Dog Barney. The elder Bush scored a surprise hit with Millie's Book back in 1990, which offered a portrait of the White House from the point of view of the family's springer spaniel. Barney, a Scottish terrier, was a gift to the president and his wife from former New Jersey Governor Christie Whitman, who owns several of the dogs herself.
