Music question mainly for people age 25 and younger.
What do you think of the song "Goodbye To You" by Scandal?

The song is on the compilation CD "Scandalous" by Scandal, and there's a 30 second sound sample at amazon.com.

The song was originally released on Scandal's 5 song EP "Scandal" in 1982, but that EP has never been released on CD. The video for the song was very popular on MTV when MTV was in its early years.

I ask the question because this is my favorite song of all time, and because so much of today's music seems so awful.

3. Because......
Because I already know that people your age love the song. So there's no need to ask.

I'm 32, by the way.

19. OK!
I know that people who are 33 love it, but people who are 30 might or might not love it.

5. I know someone your age hasn't heard it.
That's why I mentioned the sound sample at amazon.com

I guess what I should have asked is, "What do you think of the 30 second sound sample at amazon.com?"

8. Ok
1st off i absolutely love 80s music i have a folder with over 100 "hits" or so.

This song was pretty ok i guess but i like songs like

duran durans view to a kill or laura brannigans self control.

Still it wasnt bad, i wish i could have found it on kazaaa 30 seconds isnt too much but i guess since it was never released on cd nobody ever did a mp3 of it

15. It's on CD.
The first CD release of it was Scandal's compilation "Scandalous" in 1992. So it did take a whole decade after the song's original 1982 release for the song to get its first CD release.

It's also on Patty Smyth's 1998 "Greatest Hits" CD. (She is their lead singer.)

It's also on many multiartist compilation CDs, inclduing, among others, these. Some of these are curently out of print, but some are currently available:

"Don't Touch My 45's: Great Lost Singles of the 80's"

"Women in Rock"

"I Am Woman"

"New Wave Dance Hits: Just Can't Get Enough, Vol. 8"

"Like, Omigod! The '80s Pop Culture Box (Totally)"

"MTV Class of 1983"

9. I think the better single from that song's original album was...
... Love's Got A Line On You.

Scandal (and Patty Smyth) did some great covers, too.

She/They covered Journey's "Only The Young" BEFORE Journey released theirs.

They also did a cover of Danny Wylde's "Isn't It Enough."

Trivia: Patty Smyth was Eddie Van Halen's first choice to replace Roth with.

16. I love "Love's Got A Line On You."
"Love's Got A Line On You" is a genuine heartbreaker and full of true, sincere emotion.

The original 1982 "Scandal" EP had the following 5 songs:

Goodbye To You

Love's Got A Line On You

She Can't Say No

Another Bad Love

Win Some Lose Some

The EP has never been released on CD.

However, the "Scandalous" compilation contains 4 of those 5 songs. The only one missing is "Win Some Lose Some."

It's on one of the discs in Rhino's excellent 15-volume series, JUST CAN'T GET ENOUGH: NEW WAVE HITS OF THE '80s. http://www.rhino.com

11. Off topic
but I wish Josie Cotton's original LP's would be rereleased..about the only tunes I can find out there are "He Could Be The One" and "Johnny Are You Queer"....she had a lot of great tunes including a good cover of the old Exciters song "Tell Him."

17. I don't watch Buffy, but......
A google search suggests the answer is no. I think what you heard was a different song with the same name, by someone named Michelle Branch.

18. Yep. "Fun" is the word.
I loved the video for it with Patty Smyth dancing around in that red dress. She was having a lot of fun.

And her voice is about the best I've ever heard.
