Is there any way to correct an overdose of thyme
in a lentil soup besides adding more lentils and stock?

Could not find an answer on any search engine, so I'll turn to DU for advice.....:-)

Anyone?

You may not be able to eat the soup but you sure as hell won't taste the thyme.

3. Did you crush it or leave it whole?
If it's whole you can fish it out if it's not to thick yet. If not and you can handle alcohol, serve the soup with a dollop of sherry.

10. Sour cream might kill it a bit
as I said, the sherry will and is nice with Lentil OR pea soup

6. Strain The Broth
and make a lentil salad, with olive oil, onion, & something else, I can't remember...salt, pepper - start over w/ the soup

9. the used to tell me to takeout salt or pepper put a large potatoe...
or several potatoes in with whatever it is, and cook the potatoes, supposedly they would soak up the spices somewhat. Hey, try it.

potatoes absorb spices--I have done it a million times with veggie soup.

Good luck. I've not thought of using thyme in lentil soup.....but it sounds good....if I try it I will make sure I use only a little.

14. It is strong...I did not realize I'd used so much.....
perhaps the organic spice I bought is stronger than the usual supermarket brands....

19. Should you take the potatoes out?
And then add more?

If the potatoes absorbed the thyme and you removed them that would remove some of the thyme flavor, right?

I'm not a cook so just guessing. :)
