Michael Franti & Spearhead. DAMN!
Heard one of their songs on the way home from work tonight and it was amazing. WMNF 88.5 Tampa played it...Lucky me!

Buying the new CD.

Any suggestions about other albums?

This isn't the song ("War"?), I can't find it, but it's still worth a listen!

1. try Frantis earlier band...Disposable Heros of Hiphopracy.
...very political.

I think he was also involved with Consolidated somehow, too.

2. Stay Human is the CD you want ..it is excellent
Edited on Mon Aug-18-03 07:13 PM by nothingshocksmeanymo
also if you can find it, he started out with a group called Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprasy. They had a great tune "Television, the drug of the nation"

Chocolate Supahighway is good too as is HOME but NOTHING like Stay Human. Stay Human crosses ALL genres of R&B...rap, reggae, funk

The entire CD is excellent and his voice is something else (reminds me a lot of Sly Stone). There is also a cameo by Woddy Harrelson in the CD

GO BUY IT RIGHT NOW and play it OVER and OVER and OVER!!!

11. You can't pass the police or the pentagon, the IRS or the upper echalon
I think it's time to make a move on the contradiction.

I'll look on my CD's when I get home...I don't recognize those lines

13. I saw the Disposable Heroes of Hiphopracy
open for U2 in 1989...they were awesome! I actually liked them and what they had to say more than I did U2.
