What song is stuck in your head right now?
For me..."Brilliant Disguise" by Bruce Springsteen. I was listening to disc 3 of a 5-disc compilation of "Weird Al" Yankovic material this morning, and this was on it. (Al randomly appears on the screen and interacts with the video.) It's been stuck in my head ever since.

You?

21. See, the thing is, I have no idea
These things just pop into my head. (Although we can blame, once again, Whitacre D_WI for this. If he hadn't bought that Vicki Lawrence album from Goodwill for 25 cents, I would never have known there was a Vicki Lawrence version of Gypsies, Tramps and Theives.)

14. Kung Fu Fighting.
And its all because of that bloody commercial!

Kung Fu Fighting

Oh-oh-oh-oh...
Oh-oh-oh-oh...
Oh-oh-oh-oh...
Oh-oh-oh-oh...

Everybody was Kung Fu fighting,
Those kicks were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit fright'ning,
But they fought with expert timing.

There were funky China men
From funky Chinatown
They were chopping them up,
They were chopping them down
It's an ancient Chinese art,
And everybody knew their part
From a fainting to a slip,
And a kickin' from the hip.

Everybody was Kung Fu fighting,
Those kicks were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit fright'ning,
But they fought with expert timing.

There was funky Billie Chin
And little Sammy Chung
He said, "Here comes the big boss, (Wha-ha)
Let's get it on."
We took the bow and made a stand,
Started swaying with the hand
A sudden motion made me stiff,
Now we're into a brandnew trip.

Everybody was Kung Fu fighting,
those kicks were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit fright'ning,
But they did it with expert timing.

Oh-oh-oh-oh...
Oh-oh-oh-oh...
Oh-oh-oh-oh...
Oh-oh-oh-oh...

(Keep on, Keep on, Keep on, Keep on, Show you.)

Everybody was Kung Fu fighting,
Those kicks were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit fright'ning,
Make sure you have expert timing.

Kung Fu fighting, had to be fast as lightning...

(Oh-oh-oh-oh...
Oh-oh-oh-oh...
Oh-oh-oh-oh...
Oh-oh-oh-oh...)

"Kung Fu Fighting"

15. Dammit! It's "We Built This City"! My head hates me now.
Or I hate my head or...whatEVER. But I heard on the radio the other day about some recent poll that picked the "worst" pop songs of recent years or some such, and The Starship's "We Built This City" was either # 1 or close to the top and they played a clip of it and it's been driving me INSANE ever since. A truly execrable ditty, for sure. Yet I'm wandering around the house warbling it to myself. Make it stop!

Oh, but you didn't think I planned to suffer alone, did ya?

We built this city, we built this city on rock an' roll
Built this city, we built this city on rock an' roll

Say you don't know me, or recognize my face
Say you don't care who goes to that kind of place
Knee deep in the hoopla, sinking in your fight
Too many runaways eating up the night

Marconi plays the mamba, listen to the radio, don't you remember
We built this city, we built this city on rock an' roll

chorus

Someone's always playing corporation games
Who cares they're always changing corporation names
We just want to dance here, someone stole the stage
They call us irresponsible, write us off the page

Marconi plays the mamba, listen to the radio, don't you remember
We built this city, we built this city on rock an' roll

chorus

It's just another Sunday, in a tired old street
Police have got the choke hold, oh, we just lost the beat

Who counts the money underneath the bar
Who rides the wrecking ball into our guitars
Don't tell us you need us, 'cos we're fools
Looking for America, crawling through your schools

(I'm looking out over that Golden Gate bridge
Out on another gorgeous sunny Saturday, I've seen that traffic)

Don't you remember (remember)

(Here's your favorite radio station, in your favorite radio city
The city by the bay, the city that rocks, the city that never sleeps)

Marconi plays the mamba, listen to the radio, don't you remember
We built this city, we built this city on rock an' roll

chorus repeats 2x

(We built, we built this city) built this city (we built, we built this city)
(repeats out)

38. Come What May, from Moulin Rouge
because the chorus I'm in will have a duet of that song, and I was hoping to be able to audition for it. I chickened out on auditioning for the duet (one of the sopranos who can really sing got the part), but the song is still in my head. Oddly enough, I didn't much care for it in the movie, but when sung by a more accomplished singer than Nicole Kidman (Ewan McGregor's voice is surprisingly good), it's a beautiful song.
