Do you believe in the adage "What goes around comes around"?

I have heard that saying all my life and I truly believe it. I have run into awful, evil people during my life who have seemed to be on top of the world. Then, for one reason or the other, they fall and they fall far and people often stand on the sidelines and applaud.

I thought of this saying again today while I was watching Rummy's press conference on CNN. He was a mess today, just a complete mess. How far the mighty have fallen. YAAAAAAAAAAY!! CLAP CLAP CLAP!

Because the 'rule' of the universe is that what you send out, comes back to you, tenfold.

I tried it once. Suffered through the worst year of my life afterward - everything I 'cursed' the other person with, happened to me. Nothing happened to him.

But, "peripheral" people (apparently Spirit thought they were truly responsible for what happened to me) also had disastrous years ~ one's husband and mother died, the other's husband left her, she lost her job, and pretty much her mind shortly thereafter.

Spirit takes care of business in her own way, in her own time.

I was cursing *because* of one of the worst years of my life! :)

Interestingly, though, that experience made me much more resilient to the aggravations of life. I "get over" things much more quickly now. It also made me realize that the only way to truly achieve happiness is to make it happen yourself and not by wishing evil on other people.

Though, to be honest, that hasn't stopped me from wishing evil on other people. I just waste a lot less time doing it now.

Prescott Bush was a Nazi collaborator and George Bush Sr. was instrumental in the Iran/Contra scandal. They are a family of war profiteers and greedy corporate criminals. If there is such a thing as karma, then it is way overdue.

That little red car had come out of nowhere behind me and run up my tailpipe about 30 minutes earlier, scaring the bejeebers outta me before whipping around and continuing down the road at WAY over 75 MPH -- which is the speed I was going....

I remember the Nixon Administration and Watergate well. When Nixon got elected for a second term, I was crushed and felt that there was no justice in the world...then he screwed up and there were consequences, even for the most powerful man in the world. for the most part this adage seems to apply. Though, those without a conscience or any guilt (also known as sociopaths) seem to move on without any repercussions whatsoever.

I think, guilt is the hook. Those without guilt often deflect it to the next lifetime.

This is my greatest fear of *.

We will find out if my deepest fears are validated over the next couple months.

I think the utter hypocrisy regarding our heinous treatment of Iraqi prisoners is an undeniable issue that cannot be spun.

I do believe as well. I have seen it time and again. Some manage to escape it but more often after some time they fall and fall hard. I just watched 2 acquaintances of mine get back everything they deserved. One has gone off to prison, the other is waiting but I am certain he will also go to prison. I wish I could say it does not feel good in some way but payback can be a bitch and when it comes to those who have screwed others over for their own gain it is sometimes somehow fun to watch.

Reagan never fell, for a stunning example. He'll die in his bed surrounded by his family. Kissinger didn't fall, he's still raking in the megabucks. Hell, even freakin' Idi Amin died in his bed surrounded by his family. The longer I live, the more I see that karma is a rather cruel concept --

1) because it promises something that won't happen unless we make it happen (justice)
2) because it justifies walking away from people in pain, because they must have done something somehow to bring it on themselves, and if it wasn't in this life, oh well, maybe it was in some past one

Just my humble opinion but since I had a congenital illness maybe the whole concept is a little more offensive to me than it would be to many. Bad things happen to everyone, they don't, alas, happen to punish the wicked for their evil deeds. Chance rules all. But, yeah, nothing wrong with enjoying a chuckle when Rumsfeld or their ilk stick their foot in it.

to a lot of people, when life turns ugly for you people are less likely to offer support and a helping hand. And many more will dogpile onto the glee-wagon to rejoice in your misery.

Personally, I think life and fortune turn difficult for all of us at some point and it has nothing to do with our character. But people of good character are much more likely to have friends and supporters to help them through it.
