Go to Planned Parenthood. They will be MORE than happy to perform a vasectomy. My friends' husband went there and got one---his Doctor, just like yours, felt that at 31, he was still 'too young' to decide that he & his wife didn't want any more children.
The doctor also seemed unfazed by the fact that the wife cannot take birth control pills because of hormonal imbalances---the amount of progesterone in pills/depo/etc is far too much for her and causes her to have horrific side effects.
The doctor basically told them "That's what Condoms are for" and he (hubby) said "Well, I'm 31, I've been married for 6 years, and frankly, I don't want to use Condoms with my wife"
So, after much running around, they went to Planned Parenthood. I believe it cost them under $300 for the surgery, and the doctor only asked once if they were willing to accept the fact that the surgery, in some instances can be reversed, but not always, and that there is the high possiblity that they would not be able to have children in the future.
They said that was fine, they already have 2 and don't want anymore.
The doctor said 'Okay. you're an adult and you can make up your own mind" and scheduled an appointment for the next week.
It was an outpatient surgery with absolutely no complications.
I feel that if people can get fake boobs, penile implants, and such, without having being brow-beaten by the doctors, then people can also make the decision at WHATEVER AGE whether or not to have any children in the future.
Good luck in finding a doctor who can understand that you are an adult and take full responsibility for any medical procedures you wish to have done to you.
It's not the Dr's place to play Mister Morality and tell you that "No, you really DO want children, even though you don't know it yet, so I'm not going to perform this surgery"
You should have told him you have a violent temper and are a convicted pedophile and wish not to impose your evil will upon any future generations....no, don't say that...but I wonder if they would be more likely to do the surgery should you tell them that (or say you have an inherited genetic defect that would pass onto your children)?
