I just rearranged all the rightwing books at Barnes & Noble
I turned copies of Slander and Charlie Daniels (what's he got to say that anyone cares about?) book over. Covered Mona Charen's book with Big Lies by Joe Conason. And covered others with books by David Brock and Jeffrey Toobin. I gotta tell you it was difficult to find progressive books to cover all the offenders.

5. I love doing that.
If I can't find a book to cover them with I just turn them upside down. Sometimes I do both.

6. Love it
I'm so glad other people are doing this! I've turned over right-wing rags at bookstores from Pittsburgh to Petaluma. My husband got after me about it (don't worry - he's one of us), but I continue this practice and highly encourage others in this endeavor.

8. I can't believe I'm saying this, but . . .
if you really want to have fun, switch the dustjackets! I did this my last few days at B & N--most of my colleagues admit to doing the same, especially when there is talk of layoffs and union-busting.

It doesn't have to end with the political books either. Consider, if you will, the time I switched Dr. Laura with (no lie) Bell Hooks . . .

Just call me a fair and balanced soccer mom subversive!

Have fun at the corporate retailers, but please spare the indies and libraries--they are overwhelmingly on our side.

15. That's not fair...
if I had picked up Will Pitt's book and found out it was really Ann Coulter's book, I think I would have fainted. :evilfrown:

But devilgrrl gets a big two   from me!

12. We should put "disclaimers" in their books
like the all the slander that Miss Annie wrote in "Slander" and "Treason"

The Political Science section was next to Mythology at our local Borders. I use to move those idiot Bush books about what a great "leader" he is over to that section. ANd once a lady was asking me if I knew which book was about the media and how it leans to the left - I handed her a copy of David Brock's "Blinded by the Right" and walked away

19. and you, my friend, are soooo tombstoned
though you will probably lurk back over here to read what people wrote about you.

allow me to be so juvenile......

it is hard for me to think that, after using the description "goober", which btw is a delicious chocolate/peanut snack, that you hold a job much higher than burger flipper to begin with. some of the 3 and 4 syllable words used here must have been akin to a near death experience for you. if, by chance, you do visit a bookstore, i doubt it is one that allows anyone under the age of 18 to enter. so as you drool over the lastest issue of "juggs"...i know, i know...you buy it for the articles...remember, it is the stupid liberal faction of america which has protected your right to salivitate over glossy pictures of 44ddd female models, not the right wing jerry falwells you seem to idolize so.

and it is very clear, by the ann coulter reference, that you prefer your women to have most of the physical attributes of a man...IE...that HUGE adams apple and vocal bass barry white would be proud to have. perhaps you need to come clean about yourself, little buddy....come on outta there...we will accept you on this side of the isle.....

20. I do this ALL the time
I LOVE bookstores and it's just part of my visit everytime I go. It doesn't matter which bookstore it is. I COMPLETELY change the display. It just a little thing that I can do and who knows, maybe it makes a difference!

23. I do that as often as I can.
Little stuff. Like turning the reich-wingers' books spine out and the good guys' books face out. I haven't switched dust jackets yet, but I suppose that's the next level in the escalation. I also move the "Mein Kampf" wannabes off the display table at the front and replace them with Hillary's book, and the others.
