1. I'm a sophmore at University of Central Florida in Orlando

Currently working on a degree in Communications. Hopefully, I'll get my B.A. in another two years or so. But I would like to eventually get a Master's degree.

11. Your best prospects are probably with a small company

I would also add that a 4 year degree is an asset worth pursuing. I am an engineer, and I have never seen such tight times. For example, my company has several established product lines, but they have decided to take design work for the simpler products to small companies and to Canadian, Korean, and now Indian companies. They are chasing five or six figure savings for one product development. Management is willing to do project management with a company twelve time zones away just to save $90,000.

Hopefully, you can get with one of these small companies in America and be there when the growth happens so you can get responsibility and promotions.

i have my b. arch from illinois-chicago. a 5 year professional degree and only a few hours short of a masters. been in private practice for almost 20 years. can be a very tough biz.

wish i went into journalism so i could hang on du all day.

13. PhD in Entomology

well, I'm "this close"--at the age of 55!--writing my dissertation on biological control of an invasive pest plant (Brazilian pepper) that is choking out the native vegetation all over South Florida. My project specifically is looking at the effect of defoliating the tree on its growth, reproductive capacity, and competitiveness, in imitation of a sawfly we are importing from its native range in South America that loves to eat its leaves. Bad news is that a single defoliation seems actually to stimulate the plant to higher productivity, but more than one, which is quite within the realm of possibility (because the sawfly has two population peaks every year) based on what we've seen down in SA, does stunt it, reduce its competitiveness and make it vulnerable to other stresses.

i've read alot about invasive species in florida. in terms of eradication, sounds like you're resigned to the invasive plant, at least in part. no going back on the antipodean exchange...
