Wuh-double-OW! You people from Kansas are CA-RAY-ZEEE!
Car chase in my little home town tonight.

There was a highway patrol roadblock about a mile from my house. I drove through it on the way home, had my license checked, and was sent on my way.

My son and I visited my mom, and then had to cross over the highway to get to the Piggly Wiggly when WHOOOOOOSH! out of nowhere a new black corvette zooms past, missing my back bumper as I pulled off the highway into the parking lot, with about 10 cop cars on his ass.

Now, I am thinking, he must have a HELL of a lot of SOMETHING in that car to be chancing wrecking a FINE car like that just to avoid the law. What does a new corvette cost now anyway? 60,000?

So, my kiddo and I get back on the highway after the "parade" passed, and went home...I got the scanner out and listened. He was being chased through THREE counties before he wiped out at an intersection, demolished his car, and then fled on foot.

Right now, the law is trying to find him...have dogs out and everything.

Gotta admit, it was kind of exciting--we were about 5 feet from being hit by the guy, and then he wiped out. I think high-speed chases for non-violent offenses are dangerous and should be illegal--lots of times just an exhibition of cop machismo--but I do hope they catch this guy.

What could have provoked a chase like that? My brother who heard it on the scanner said he blew through the roadblock. Anyone have any ideas? I mean, a roadblock on a TUESDAY night??

1. Damn the only chase scene I ever saw live was OJ's low speed chase
and fucking morons were getting out of their car on the freeway to wave at him.

2. I'm tellin ya...
I got all adrenalined up being in the near miss...can't imagine what the vette driver must have felt!

I wanted to ride out to see the wreck, but my son needed to get to bed, and I didn't need to keep him out late.

Saw a wreck one time...got there with my brother, who's a fireman, before the police or anyone else arrived. I guy had dead-centered (no pun intended) a pine tree, his car exploded, and he burned to death. Southerners do some crazy shit, ya. The way the coroner id'd his body, or even found that he was a "he," was the fact that he had cowboy boots on (as if women don't wear them, duh!)

I remember the OJ chase...I sat glued to the telly screaming "Get that motherfucker!!!!" LOL! He murdered two people and the cops strayed along behind him at 40 MPH, and this guy tonight probably had an ounce of meth on him, and the cops buried the needle to keep up with him. Go figure........

4. High speed pursuits
are one of the most stupid ideas ever conceived.

Risking lives in order to high-five when it's over.

6. I agree completely
But I can't help but wonder why the guy blasted through the roadblock and then led cops on a three-county chase. Guess he thought his Vette was invincible up beside those grey crown vics.

I am just happy you werent hurt and I hope they got who they were after. If they were doing high speed on an out of state, It must be murder or rape. Hope they got em. KC has had a lot of bad things in the last few months. Sorry it scared you but...lol At least you got an adrenalin rush...kidding. Sweet dreams.

Why did I think you were a Left Coaster?

As for the roadblock:

PS: Having read the other posts, I now see you're even less of a Left Coaster than I thought. But you're near some coast, right?
