Matrix? Oscars? You're joking, right???
These dimwits actually think the Mtrix sequels are Oscar-worthy??? Give me a f-ing break. Reloaded was hardly worthy of celluloid, let along Oscar.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - When it comes to Oscar consideration, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences isn't entertaining any two-for-one offers.

The issue arises because this year there will be two "Matrix" movies and, possibly, two "Kill Bill" movies that could all qualify for Academy consideration. And that has left their respective studios, Warner Bros. Pictures and Miramax Films, strategizing over how to optimize their Oscar chances -- even though the 2004 Oscar ceremonies won't take place until Feb. 29.

<snip>

After reviewing its own requirements, the Academy informed the studio there was nothing in the rule book to prevent the studio from submitting one of the films and not the other. As a result, Warners is currently contemplating submitting only "Matrix Revolutions" for Oscar consideration.

1. this is sad
I can't think of ANY movie I've seen this year that's Oscar-worthy.

I hope at the least, Lord of the Rings, Return of the King gets a nomination, the whole trilogy deserves some credit for being the heir-apparent to Star Wars - Raiders of the Lost Ark, type epics.

:)

2. "Bend It Like Beckham"
I think it's gonna pull a surprise nomination (not a win, but a nom), much like "Full Monty"did a few years ago.

3. well, the first Matrix won FOUR Oscars
...all for technical achievement, editing, sound, sound effect editing. While Matrix Loaded lacks the narrative impact of the original, they did put a lot into special effects.

I agree with the above poster, however...2003 will be Lord of Rings year to do a victory lap at the Oscars. The FINAL LOTR "chapter" will be released in December to (I predict) huge fanfare.

6. Yes, but
...the first Matrix was actually GOOD. Part 2 was all crap, nothing but fight scenes and plot holes big enough to drive Mack trucks through.

We re-named "Matrix Reloaded" to "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Plot Development"

5. Return of the King, that's all I have to say.
If they diss Jackson this time round, I just....I just....I don't even know. He did a fantastic job with the work, and made LOTR something we could be proud of again--I mean, after cartoon Frodo, yikes!

Of course, there are lots of movies yet to come out, December is the big Oscar month.....
