I just got my wisdom teeth removed this morning.

And jesus, it hurts. My mouth is all sore (especially on the bottom), and my mouth is bleeding a bit - even though the operation took place at abour 9:30 this morning.

Is this normal?

My face was swollen like a chipmunk and I couldn't eat for two weeks, but then again my oral surgeon was a sadistic butcher. I'm sure you'll be feeling better soon.

I had mine out when I was 17 and I was one hurtin dude for 10 days or so. Luckily my oral surgeon loaded me up on percs to make it somewhat bearable.

call your dentist - they usually prescribe them when they do the operation.

Ask what you could take tonight for the pain, if anything. Tylenol?You shouldn't be bleeding unless you chomped some hard food.

Our daughter's bled for about the first day. So, it's not abnormal, unless it's a lot of bleeding. Her oral surgeon gave her Vicodin(sp). Whatever medication you are taking, don't wait until it really hurts, take it as prescribed. Good luck. Got straws?

10. Worst substained pain ever

My mouth was very sore for the first couple days. It was one of the worst pains that I had ever had and definitely the worst that lasted more than an hour or so. I had trouble with bleeding too. Unfortunately, the taste of blood made me not want to eat and I got sick from taking Vicoden on an empty stomach so I took the pain instead. You'll feel better soon.

I had bleeding for a couple days when mine were removed too. You could call the dentist, if you're worried, but I think it's probably fine. Were your teeth impacted? As my dentist explained, sometimes the teeth are surrounded by pockets of blood which will cause oozing of blood between the stiches. Disgusting, but the infection is less severe than in typically impacted teeth. Be sure to sleep with your head on an extra pillow, ice until you can't ice anymore, and don't take aspirin products because it will make the bleeding worse.

And, ice cream won't hurt anything! :)

I had mine out 20 years ago, and I can still remember how much it hurt. After numerous bouts of nasty shit (ruptured cysts, kidney stones, etc) it remains on my top 5 of Most Painful Shit Ever.

Fuck Tylenol. You need morphine now, and Vicodin or Percodan for the next few days (that's what I got). If you didn't get those, call your doc NOW.

Yes, it's normal for them to bleed a little for a few days. Wad up some gauze and bite down on it. DO NOT USE STRAWS for at least 3 days; the sucking can dislodge the clots and cause dry socket, which sucks so much more than you can possibly imagine.

Once you're able to eat again, be sure to the clean the extraction sites. You will have to do this everytime for at least 6 months. Yup, it's almost as nasty as it sounds, but will keep them from getting infected (and you from some truly nasty stink-mouth).

Rest. A lot. Take drugs. Feel better soon!

18. Ouch! I had mine done in the hospital but didn't have any

trouble, even though two were impacted. My husband bled a lot (he did go out and play with his band the next night and he sang lead -- probably a bad idea!) Anyway, he swears biting down on tea bags will help with the bleeding, and maybe the pain. (But drugs will help the pain more! )

My best advice is that when you get sick of soft food in a couple of days, remember that you can put anything in a blender and make soft food. I was so glad to have pureed roast beef and pureed green beans after the jello/cream of wheat/ice cream routine in the hospital. But don't eat Doritos until you get your stitches out.
