Marci X.

Marci FUCKING X. Hollywood, I thought you couldn't sink any lower with Malibu's Most Wanted, but you've proved me wrong once again. Why do you think that white people acting completely clueless about black culture is funny? Wasn't Bringing Down The House punishment enough? How many movies with rapping grannies must we endure?

1. I just saw Bringing Down the House last night
I thought it was actually kinda cute. But then again, I'm white.

But I'm also Sicilian...which is kinda like being black - in the same way a Zebra is kinda like a horse.

:)

But each sucessive time it became more garish and clownish and horrible.

5. Such a lovely film
I see that Damon Wayans' character is called Dr. Snatchcatcher. I wonder how ABC will promote that during his sitcom?

7. It is rather revolting...
...I've tried steering my kids clear of it. It's as if "black exploitation" films of the 70s, where stereotypes were played out by black actors and actresses, being considered "not PC" have given way to white actors and actresses playing out the same stereotypes. Oh, but we're supposed to have our hearts warmed about how these fictional people work out their differences by clownfacing one another. It's crappy exploitative marketing, and I'll be damned if there aren't fools that run around trying to be like the movies. No, it's not funny, it's rather offensive. Wasn't it just a few years ago that there was a rash of more thought provoking cinema? What the heck happened? Wait, don't answer that...

10. And here I was thinking it was just me who did not find Bringing Down the
House amusing at all. I did not laugh out loud once. Oh well. I do love to watch people play poker though. That is great fun.

9. Not nearly as bad as my recently purchased Sinatra
and Basie album where Frank does Amos and Andy patter between some songs that is just awful and embarrassing.

11. Was it ever really funny?

I never laughed at any of that old-time crap when I saw it on TV during my childhood, and I sure as hell don't think it's funny in the goddamned 21st century!

12. Anyone seen Ali G?
He's actually an English Jewish bloke who dresses up and talks like a gangsta.....now he CAN BE funny because he's satirising the fucking ridiculous dirty pig-ignorant little white kids (in the UK) who think that they're living in the hood. In addition, he interviews politicians who completely fail to spot that he's a) a fake and b) talking absolute shit to them.

White people pretending to be black isn't funny, it's tragic....satirising it is funny!
