I've just started and like it so far only I can't look at the main guy without thinking: McGyver!

That completes my posts about favorite TV shows for the evening...I have insomnia, does it show?

2. Love SG-1
Don't worry, after a few episodes, you'll look at Anderson, and think Col. O'neill. He plays the character so well.

IMHO, its the best Sci Fi series on television right now.

5. Ok, help me with a couple of things...
if you would be so kind.

Actually, I never watched McGyver so I don't have far to go to erase the association!

I've only had cable again for about one month and so I've seen some marathon sessions (all Monday nights lately for instance) and so I'm baffled as to where thing are vis a vis....

how long has this been on SciFi and what season are they showing now in these marathons? Is it the current season or what?

what's the deal with O'Neil and Carter? is there some mutual unspoken thing between them or am I reading too much in---the husband actually convinced me of that, he's the romantic in this outfit.

if Carter married some "ambassador" in that kick-ass epi where they have to send a message about 10 years back in time to avoid the gate where the future ends up to be not fabulous but genocidal...then that pretty much would preclude anything developing between Carter and O'Neil am I right?

And, who is this NID? NIA? (I forget) that is like a renegade spy agency?

OK, end of pesky questions, any info would be great. Thanks!

6. Partial answers
Ok, it's been on Sci Fi since the beginning of season six, I believe. Before that, it was on Showtime and in syndication. The Monday night shows are on season four or five at the moment, but I'd have to check to be sure. There's an episode guide on www.tvtome.com if you want to look.

The deal with O'Neil and Carter is there's been a lot of sexual tension, but not much else. The thing is, since they're supposedly in the Air Force, and Jack is her superior officer, they can't fool around. Besides, Jack is a whore when it comes to alien women they meet on gateworlds, and Sam keeps meeting guys she likes, and then they almost always end up dying. I would have liked to see her and Corin's character Jonas Quinn hook up, but that's just me. For most SG fans, Jack and Sam hooking up is akin to Scully and Mulder on the X-Files.

As for that message in a bottle episode, she won't end up marrying the ambassador, because they changed the future. Plus there's an episode in season five or so where they revisit that plotline and she meets the ambassador through a different set of circumstances and he gets killed. See what I mean about her bad luck with guys?

NID is to the Stargate program what the CIA would be to the FBI. They're basically militaristic and want to use whatever technology the Air Force gets their hands on to further whatever their agenda is this week.

Hope that helps.

I wondered how much they changed the future---because time travel eps always make me nuts.

3. Big fan
Give it some time and you won't even think McGuyver anymore. Colonel O'Neil is such a better, more well rounded character.

Though I am kind of pissed that Corin Nemec's character just disappeared and Daniel Jackson came back. They should have just left him dead/ascended.

7. I'm a big fan of SG-1
This is the sixth season and they show no sign of running out of ideas and new worlds to explore. It is certainly the best SF on television at the moment, and I'd rank it as one of the all-time best.

If it is re-run, do not miss the "SG-1 Lowdown on Sci-Fi" -- a one hour show about the making of, behind the scenes of, and actors of, SG-1.

9. Took a few episodes, but I like it!
and all I ever knew about McGyver is that Patti and Selma Simpson loved him!

Anyways, been watching the SciFi repeats on Monday nights plus the new shows and I must say I really enjoy it...good cast, well acted, well written, interesting storylines...I got into it about six months ago and was floored to learn it's been around for six years! I especially like some of the humorous shows they did as time went on...I like the cast and I was surprised when I watched my first episode of McGyver on TVLand...God, a mullet head hero? Eegah!

Anyways, I like Stargate SG-1....

10. Have you guys tired the DHD Simulator?
Man, I'm such a geek.

It's a free download, made by a fan using flash animation.

Send teams offword; repel an apophis attack; send a malp; talk to the Tok Ra and the Asgard.

Fun for about an hour, but it makes a great screen saver!
