Tayshaun Prince made the best defensive play I have seen in years
Edited on Tue May-25-04 09:39 AM by neoteric lefty
What a game last night! I personally love defensive slugfests more than high-scoring affairs. Also, I hate the Pacers. Well, I don't hate them, I just wish they could somehow win while Reggie Miller loses.

1. It was a thing of beauty!
High profile play, amazing display of athletic ability. The blocked shot remains the single most important play in basketball.

2. but the best part about it
was that Prince didn't give up and totally made the play himself. He wasn't in the right place at the right time. He hustled his ass and saved the game for them. Pure beauty!

3. Yeah. That was one of the most amazing blocks I've ever seen
How much distance did he close to make that play over only a little more that half the court? It had to be at least 10 feet, if not more, from the time Reggie Miller got the ball.

4. It was a great play, but it was also a gift.
Reggie should have dunked the ball, then the only way Prince could have gotten a piece of it would have been to foul. Reggie knows this, and it was uncharacteristic of a guy who has made a career out of last second heroics.

5. I disagree
9 times out of 10, I think Reggie would have gone for the lay up both because I don't think hes the most secure dunker in the world and because he always goes to get the foul.

6. Well, Reggie disagrees with you
because he said that he should have dunked it.

7. Hindsight is 20-20
I do not disagree that he SHOULD have dunked it. I just don't think he WOULD have dunked it in most cases.

8. no, Reggie wimped out
I saw him in Game 5 against the Nets two years ago drive right down the lane and sky for a dunk over like, two Nets.

Miller can dunk when he wants/has to. He just never thought Prince would catch him.

The fact that Prince has a 7-foot wingspan probably helped him too.
