Olives
Ugh... I hate 'em. The devil's condiment.

How the hell did people ever eat them? You take a horribly bitter, inedible fruit, then soak it in poison for a few months, and you end up with food?

feh.

8. Noah's Own Passoion Fruit
From X BC to 1924, olive-oil fueled an economy for thousands of years until Dimbo, his ancestors and his ilk decided Oil was more efficient.

I still like them.

10. As I type
I'm eating the garlic and jalapeno variety. You know the kind - with the garlic cloves and jalapeno slices soaking in the brine along with the olives. I eat it all. Just don't kiss me right now. I love those mothas!

22. Ambiguous on asparagus
I used to DESPISE it, I've learned if it's not cooked by a total troglodyte, it's not so bad. Still, I ain't tryin' to eat it every day or anything...

And being Hungarian, I take offense to the "cabbage drools!" remark. It's handbags at 20 paces for you, mister!!

12. Yum--I love olives!
Especially black olives, pitted, so I can get the full flavor biting into it (instead of having to be careful to not bite directly into the pit). I love green olives too. And the big green olives stuffed with jalapenos. Never particularly liked Kalamata olives, but I'm getting used to them now. And that parrotlet, Olive, is absolutely adorable. :-)

14. Olives? They's goooooooooooood.
But only as a compliment to other foods. I've never known anyone to snack on olives alone.

17. They're an acquired taste.
I didn't acquire that taste until about two years ago (and I hate to say how old I am, but to give a hint, I was in high school when JFK was killed). And I have no idea why I suddenly started liking them.

I can make a meal out of olives, bread with olive oil to dip it in, and some good red wine. Yummy!

18. Olives RULE
Black olives, green (The big and the small ones) I can eat them as a snack. I can eat them in a shack. I can eat them in a school, or a pool. I do like green and black olives.

21. I like them but only by themselves
Edited on Tue May-25-04 10:32 PM by nuxvomica
I grew up on black olives, the only kind my dad will eat, but I hated that they had pits. When we were lucky enough to have the stuffed greens, I would suck out the pimento before digging my teeth into the velvety green flesh of that salty fruit.
But don't put them in lunch meat, or *shiver* bread or litter the top of an otherwise edible pizza with them. Olives should be eaten alone and preferably with a toothpick.
