is there a decent freeware video editor out there?

I have one mpg movie I need to pull clips from. Every shareware product I've encountered that's capable of doing this leaves some obnoxious ad on the resulting clip that covers part of the viewing window ("this clip produced with product x").

Someone has to know of a solid freeware app for loading a full movie and cutting out clips. Someone? Anyone?

1. Maybe you can do it using virtualDub

Not really a video editor, but it should offer the functionality.

virtualdub should work for what I need. I've only ever used it to convert formats.

Never heard of the MS Movie Maker, though.

It doesn't come with too many features; I havent't tried it personally.
