Poll question: Who was your favorite Beatles singer?
When I was a kid I was in love with Paul and now that I am older I think that John was a better singer.

Who was your favorite Beatles and why?

1. I am listening to John Lennon right now
He was brilliant and I wonder what he would have been doing today.

2. I originally liked John best because his nose was very sexy
Then I still liked John best because his songs were the weirdest and because he wrote strange little surreal fables on the side.

But since 1968 or so, I haven't thought about the matter much.

3. It was the HARMONY, man...
...the harmony. Try and dupe it.

4. If I have to pick, I'll take Paul
To me, John sounds much better than Paul on the early stuff because he wrote so many great songs, and the general rule is that whoever wrote the song took the lead. But post Revolver, John became less and less appealing to me, both with his vocals and his songwriting.

5. When I was young, I loved Paul, thought he was the best. As I got older
Edited on Mon May-31-04 08:39 PM by acmavm
I realized that the real brains and wit in the band was John. And then I started thinking about his songs, and really listening to him, now I don't understand why Paul was my favorite.

To be truthful, I voted for Paul. If the poll said 'In hindsight, who was the best Beatle?' I would have to vote for John.

edit: spelling and verbage.

13. It depends on the song
Some songs are perfect for John's nasal roughness, others are perfect for Paul's sweet melodies. George has some excellent vocals too.

But for all round musicianship, it is Paul---bass player extraordinaire. For songwriting it is a tossup.

14. John, Paul, and George made the Beatles 'voice'.
The harmony is what made them! Besides, either one of these three had the talent to make their own if they wanted to.
