Reports: Julia Roberts to have twins

LOS ANGELES �EOscar-winning actress Julia Roberts is pregnant with twins, according to magazine reports.

People magazine reported Monday night that Roberts' spokeswoman, Marcy Engelman, said the "Pretty Woman" star was due to give birth to twins early next year.


US Weekly said Roberts, 36, has been pregnant for about nine weeks with twins. Star magazine, citing unidentified sources, said the twins were a boy and a girl.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't 9 weeks a little early to determine gender in a fetus? I thought is was more like 2nd trimester that they could determine sex or abnormalities.

1. Yes, 9 weeks is WAY too early to tell the sex.

US weekly is a pile of gossip trash, while I do believe that Roberts is pregnant, she has wanted children for years, US is full of it.

I never found out what I was having when I was pregnant, but I do know that you should be at least 14 weeks for an amnio, so determining gender cannot be any sooner.

Don't know about the news' accuracy, but chorionic villus sampling can be done at 10-11 weeks. Amnio fluid determination does need, as you said, at least 14 weeks.

Okay, so they say she is pregnant with twins, boy and girl (bullshit) but they are making a big deal out of the fact that twins run in her family. However, I just read that she may have had in vitro, in which case heredity would have no impact on her conception of said twins. They are such moran suckers.

I'm sure the 9 weeks date was probably something to try to throw off the press, so that there won't be a birthwatch around her due date. Debra Messing did this. Of course, everyone is calling "bullshit", so I don't know how well it will work.

The other possibility is that they did IVF and know the sexes that way (ie, they only implanted two embryos and they both took).
