H/W Specs:

Celeron 1.7GHz processor.
256MB RAM
40GB hard drive
Entry level video card w/32mb video ram
no sound
Has Windows 2000 Pro OS already

Uses:

Web browsing
Word processing
Simple Flash animations

Yes or no? Would you spend the money for a OS upgrade?

Money doesn't grow in trees, you know. Besides, that product-activation XP has is the spawn of Satan, You'll be unable to transfer the OS to a new computer in the future without Microsoft's amen.

If all you are doing is yer basic office app stuff and web browsing, I vote with the rest and say save your money.

6. XP will run just fine on that hard but...

Win 2000 Pro is absolutely adequate. XP is basically Win NT with a prettier GUI. Although if your organization does decide to shell out for XP, you will likely want to disable a lot of the system services XP has active by default and perhaps turn off some of the eye-candy to make the GUI more responsive.

I'll send it to them. I compiled it a few months ago. I doubt they'll go for it, but I have nothing to lose.
