I grew up in a very small farmtown, and there was an old two story farmhouse in an abandoned orchard just outside of town that had been condemned and boarded up for years. One day my brothers, a few friends, and I rode out bikes out to the farmhouse and broke in to do some exploring (we didn't understand the dangers of playing in a condemned 100 year old house at the time). At one point my younger brother pulled open this trapdoor entrance to the cellar in the middle of the kitchen, and we spent 20 minutes arguing over who was more "chicken" and who should go down first...I lost.

Or, in retrospect, I won. When I went into the cellar, I found literally THOUSANDS of old porno mags neatly stacked on the shelves around the small room, including Playboy and dozens of other hardcore magazines of both straight and gay going back to the early 50's, and stacks upon stacks of porno prints and old reel movies (we couldn't watch them without a projector, but we could look at the film and tell what they were). That place became our #1 hangout for over a year, until one day we rode out and found a mysterious fence around the building. I jumped the fence and grabbed a few magazines, intending to return after school the next day with my friends to haul a bunch off, but when we came back we found that the house had been pushed over, that all the trees had been removed, and the cellar pit had been filled in. Within six months, the entire farm had been converted into a subdivision. If they were buried, they're under someones house today.

What REALLY sucks is that those magazines and films would be worth quite a bit of money today. Of the handful of magazines that I got out in that last trip, only one has managed to survive to today...a July 1974 Playboy (which I grabbed and cherished because that was the magazine on the racks when I was born ;)) That one alone is worth about $15 to a collector today...I can just imagine what the 1950's ones would be worth.
