Netzero and Juno suck!

Back in February I signed up for Netzero, after trying to get on line for 4 hours and getting busy signals, I called them back and canceled. On my next credit card statement I was billed for $29.90
for two months internet service. I called the credit card company and they sent me paperwork to dispute the billing. I also called Netzero and confirmed the cancellation. The next credit card billing I had a half a page of credits and debits related to this. I called the credit card company and everything was resolved with them. Today I
get a bill from a collection agency for $14.95 for Netzero. I call the collection agency and I get a recording giving me a address to send a disputed claim to. I call Netzero and I get a lady from God
knows where, she could barely speak English, she said I don't owe them anything and gives me the same number for the collection agency that I called before and got a recorded message. As I said Netzero and Juno suck. I went through the same hastle a couple years ago with Juno, when I called Netzero about this they answered the phone Netzero
Juno! Now I find out they are the same f---ed up company.

When I moved into my house, cable modem and dsl weren't available in my area yet so I had a second phone line put in for dial-up. Sprint was my long distance provider, and they felt - even though I went through the local bell clone - that they could go ahead and put a long distance account on that line without my permission. I didn't notice it for over a year because the bills came at separate times during the month. Finally they arrived at about the same time, and I figured out what was going on so I went through my spreadsheet of all my checks I had written to figure up how much they owed me (they were charging me a base rate of $14 for just having long distance as I never made a ld call on that line), and I called them, explained to the little shit (I know inbound customer service is a tough job, but this kid was a little shit - you'll see why) that I did not give them permission to add themselves to this line, and that it was an internet line and didn't need long distance in the first place.

Little shit proceeds to tell me that they can only re-imburse me for the last 3 months. I tell him that he's wrong as Sprint is being a bunch of devious bastards by doing this in the first place, and I will be getting everything refunded. He says this isn't the case. I ask to speak to a manager. (This is where he becomes a little shit) He says that if I speak to a manager then I forfeit all right to a refund. I say that I've never heard of such a thing and that I think he's lying, and I still want to speak to a manager.

Little shit STILL refuses to let me speak to a manager, claiming that I'll lose all rights to any refund. I request at least 5 more times that I want to speak to a manager, and I'll take my chances with losing the refund. He still refuses so I start up a steady stream of, "IwannatalktoamanagerLetmetalktoamanagerIwannatalktoamanagerrightnowLetmetalktoamanagerGetamanageronthephonerightnow." He tries to interrupt several times ("Sir... sir... but, sir...") and finally gives up, screaming at me, "FINE! YOU CAN SPEAK TO A MANAGER!"

I get the manager on the phone - explain the situation - call them devious for doing this without my permission and express my unhappiness at little shit for refusing to let me speak to a manager as well as lying to me about the refund.

I get all my money back. A few months later, cable modem arrived, and I got rid of all my land phone lines and went to using only my cell phone (not Sprint) for voice communication. When I called Sprint to cancel my long distance, they tried to convince me not to, and I laughed at them and told them to cancel it now and not give me any backtalk.

3. Glad you got it straightened out.
I would be happy if I got hold of someone that spoke English, how can you get mad at some poor women in Bangladesh? The other one was a computer generated voice that gave me an address to write to. All for a stinking $14.95.

4. I've gotten mad at someone in India
I was upset with myself for doing so since I know how hard that kind of job can be when you have to deal with jerks like me, and normally I don't care what nationality you are as long as you can help me, but she just wasn't trained properly and had only minimal English skills, and it pisses me off that American companies are outsourcing like they are. I asked her to transfer me to someone in America if possible.

5. you might as well get DSL...
the overcharging from the Dial Up jerks = DSL price, thankfully, broadband competes heavily and that kinda shit dont happen like it does in the dial up world.

7. I'll second that
Great tech support.

You get what you pay for, though. RR is a bit expensive, it being cable and all. But when you figure that you save money on the extra phone line, you don't pay a whole lot more.

I recommend it.

9. Not available everywhere....
No cable service at all in my part of town, so I use DSL.

It's OK, and fairly reasonable, but I have a feeling SBC is going to raise my rates rather sharply once my first year contract is up.

10. I've had good luck with Netzero.
We're only on a 56k modem, but I've been pleased with the speed of page loads and whatnot. Downloads take forever, but for less than 10 bucks a month, you can't beat it.

Of course, I haven't tried to cancel the service yet. That's usually where I get into the fights with the "customer service" people.

12. I think the problem in this area is there are not enough access numbers

I was unable to even get on line after several hours. When I tried
Juno a couple years ago I would either have the same problem or if
I got on line I was cut off in a few minutes. I didn't know they were the same company until I called to cancel and they answered the phone NetZero-Juno.
