I just saw "The Day After Tomorrow" ... ask me anything...(SPOILER)

All in all it was a pretty good film, I'd give it a B. Good acting, some corny stuff, but pretty good special effects. They did a good job at painting the fictional President as not caring about science or global warming, and the guy playing the Vice President was a pretty good likeness to Cheney in looks and attitude.

11. I thought they had some rip-offs from other movies

the Wolves scene reminded me of Jurassic Park when the 2 kids were in the kitchen being stalked by the Raptors.

I thought the love story came straight out of Titanic (hey the kids were even in the cold water and the guy almost drowned)

But in general the movie was great special effects wise. But I didn't think they made the president uncaring about global warming. That was the VPs job. I don't think anyone ever gave the president the information. Plus would Bush have hung out until the last minute to evacuate DC? Heck Bush would have been gone after the first snowflake!!!

But I thought I remembered a scene with the President in presence where someone said something to the effect that if anyone had cared about science, the disaster could have been diverted.

I agree on Bush evacuating... absolutely no way would he put himself at personal risk.

tidal waves caused by the melting of the polar ice caps and temperatures so cold right after that it immediately causes everything to freeze? Maybe I'm not clear on this....

7. Desalinization of the oceans

Salt water is able to sustain its temperature much easier than fresh water. When the glaciers melted, its fresh water flowed into the oceans and created such an imbalance that the water temperature started dropping. This in turn supposedly changed the ocean's currents, which changes wind patterns, and created this massive storm because all storms really are is nature's way of restoring its own balance.

The idea of the dad and 2 friends trekking out across the frozen tundra to find his son in NYC...all to make amends for having not been there when he was growing up. And they found him!

The young rich kid who they stayed with NYC... he comes up to the son and tells him "Just tell her how you feel." The silly love triangle was better than that. Can anyone see a young teen boy actually saying that to another young teen boy? Gag!
