Apparently Paul McCartney did drugs.
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=495&ncid=762&e=1&u=/ap/20040602/ap_en_mu/britain_mccartney

LONDON - Paul McCartney (news) says he got no thrill from heroin, but found cocaine more to his liking for a time.

"When you start working your way through it (coke), you start thinking: 'Mmm, this is not so cool an idea,' especially when you start getting those terrible comedowns," McCartney said. He confirmed that drugs influenced some of the group's songs.

"A song like 'Got to Get You Into My Life,' that's directly about pot, although everyone missed it at the time," McCartney said.

"'Day Tripper,' that's one about acid (LSD). 'Lucy in the Sky,' that's pretty obvious. There's others that make subtle hints about drugs, but, you know, it's easy to overestimate the influence of drugs on the Beatles' music."

"There was a time when The Beatles weren't very good, but we were able to be not very good in private," McCartney said.
"Wings had to do it in public and there was always the shadow of The Beatles, which didn't help."

25. It's a darn LIE that Morrison drank...
...Shame on you. He was a straight-edge poet. To Jim, booze was the Devil's way of blurring his artistic, uh, stuff. So he never touched it. Reason for his weight-gain at the end of his life? Big Macs, which were only then ('70-'71) becoming fashionable in the L.A. "rock scene."

The rest is slander.

"You want fries with that?" Tragically, Jimbo always answered, "Yes, please."

5. So after denying it for many years. . .
someone finally admits openly that Lucy in the Sky was about what we all knew it was about but that John denied? :)

8. Actually, Paul was the first
to go public with the band's drug use (namely LSD), which chafed John because Paul was the last of the four to "turn on."

18. That's what Lennon always said
but did anyone ever believe it? Maybe Julian did draw something, but it was probably influenced by John talking about acid.

6. The Beatles did drugs!?!?!?!?!
Holy shit! Are you serious? The band that made "I Am the Walrus" and "Tomorrow Never Knows" was on drugs? Surely you jest! But they were famous in the 1960s and 70s! When would they have even been around drugs? Jesus fucking Christ!

17. At Woodstock she was double fisting two bottles of vodka
According to one of the promoters, before her set because of her stage nerves. Then she, "walked backstage, sat down and shot herself full of junk".

20. Never heard about the coke...
From what I've in a lot of Beatle books Paul quite liked the weed, but never read anywhere about his coke use. That's a bit of a surprise. Mostly they were on pills early on until Dylan turned them on to grass. Lennon was the real LSD freak, Ringo more of a drinker.
Wouldn't be surprised if Pauly still lit up now and then.

"Now, good sir, what are you?"

"A most poor man, made tame to fortune's blows;
Who, by the art of known and feeling sorrows,
Am pregnant to good pity. Give me your hand,
I'll lead you to some biding."

"Slave! Thou hast slain me. Villain, take my purse..."

"O, untimely death!"

"... a serviceable villain, as duteous to the vices of
thy mistress as badness would desire."

Glass Onion
Lennon/McCartney

I told you about strawberry fields
You know the place where nothing is real
Well here's another place you can go
Where everything flows.

Looking through the bent backed tulips
To see how the other half live
Looking through a glass onion.

I told you about the walrus and me-man
You know that we're as close as can be-man
Well here's another clue for you all
The walrus was Paul.

Standing on the cast iron shore-yeah
Lady Madonna trying to make ends meet-yeah
Looking through a glass onion.

I told you about the fool on the hill
I tell you man he living there still
Well here's another place you can be
Listen to me.

Fixing a hole in the ocean
Trying to make a dove-tail joint-yeah

Looking through a glass onion.

23. They say John Bonham liked a nip of "liquid courage" now and then...
...though I for one don't believe it. His "death from misadventure" was not, I declare, due to his downing of 36 shots of vodka in a 3-hour period. It was too many bananas! Any Zeppelin fan knows this.

:nuke:

I learned that in junior high, one of our over-zealous teachers thought it best to inform us of that (former hippie or something) :eyes: :) Until then, it was just a nice song. :D ;)

28. Nice? Ugh....
We had to live with my grandmother and my aunt for awhile when my dad was stationed in the Philippines when I was little.

My aunt got so SICK of my brother playing the 45 for "Hey Jude" that she finally took it and buried it in the backyard.

Sorry...traumatic memories.

;-)
