Pitch Black on right now on SciFi Channel
I'll be watching it for probably the 10th time. Can't get enough of Vin Diesel. But really, it is actually a great sci-fi movie. Love those monsters.

1. Good hard sci fi
Original story - don't see much of that anymore. Even that sequel movie coming out soon looks to be a reversion back to the lone hero saving the universe from evil cliche.

2. Not quite
From everything I've heard, the sequels will play up the anti-hero characteristics, and better yet--he's against religious fundies, from what I understand. It's supposedly all about revenge. Nothing more noble than that.

I've always enjoyed revenge stories...there's just something on a visceral level about tales like that which appeals to my nature.

3. Oh, and in case you didn't know it
There's going to be a DVD Anime on Riddick coming out soon, just like they did for the Matrix with the Animatrix. It's being done by the animators behind Aeon Flux, so I'm really interested in seeing it.

4. Sorry, hate that one.
I think they all deserve to die, for being too stupid to live.

The only character I actually like gets killed.

5. Which character did you like?
I was uspet when my fantasy boyfriend Cole Hauser gets killed in the movie, but I've gotten past that. ;-) I actually think PB is a very cool movie.

6. I liked the blonde - can't remember her name.
But she's the one that had some brains and actually had a plan to get out of the mess they were in.

Actually, I LOVE the premise of the movie - cool concept. But I hated how it devolved into the typical, "we have to get from point a to point b with stone knives and bearskin, and by the way EVERYONE STAY TOGETHER <as people wander off blundering off cliffs, etc.>"

For once, it would be nice to see a movie where, oh, I don't know, TWO people had some sense!

7. Almost everybody I expected to survive, died.
I like that in a movie.
