1. Everytime a cell phone rings in my yoga class
I'm going to kick the person's ass. I don't care about my karma. :grr:

Unless you're a brain surgeon or the chief of police, turn the thing off while you're in a theater, a church, a class. Please, people. :grr:

3. I am probably one of the few individuals on the planet. . .
who doesn't have a cell phone. After seeing egotists at the beach, up to their knees in water, talking on their cells, and going into restaurants, and observing folks at the bar, not taling to each other, but talking on their cells. . .I wonder what kind of self-importance have we come to. . . ?

And yet as my son ages I know there will come a time when he becomes more independant, that I will inevitably succumb and purchase one. Alas.

11. Me neither...
First, I can't afford one, but more importantly, I can't stand answering or talking on the phone. It's a waste of time.

My motto is email me. It's faster.

I hate cell phones, I don't have one, don't plan on having one -- what the fuck can people talk about so much?! If someone needs to find me, they know where I am...

8. I used to hate cell phones
Then I started working on my dissertation, which involves being at three different buildings on campus at different times on different days. At one of these buildings I don't even have a phone, at the second there's a rather temperamental voice mail system, and at the third there's a shared phone with no voice mail or answering machine at all -- so no way to leave a message when the lab is empty (which is fairly often, because I'm the only one there not currently teaching). Not a big deal at first; my bf has all the campus numbers and knows my schedule, but now that I'm gearing up to apply for jobs it becomes a little bit more important that people be able to easily get in touch with me on the phone. So when my folks offered to put me on their cell plan (costs only $20 a month) I finally agreed.

The cool thing is, I'm in Indiana but my folks are in Texas, so it's a Texas number. This won't matter for any job-application related calls (which will be long distance regardless) but it will tend to discourage anyone else from calling me on the cell unless it's absolutely necessary! Plus now my mom and I can talk anytime for free, which is cool. :-)
