Blondie blocks support band because singer is blonde

A band booked to support Blondie has been told they can't go on beforehand because their lead singer is blonde.

M.A.S.S were booked to open for Blondie at a gig in Amsterdam, but minutes before the show started they were told they couldn't perform first.

The promoter told them they could only perform after Blondie - whose lead singer Debbie Harry is blonde.

The Daily Mirrorsays there was a clause in a contract stipulating no groups with a blonde singer could go on before them.

if the contract only stipulated that the singer couldn't be as old as Deborah Harry. She's too long in the tooth to be making such childish stipulations.

4. "Blondie is a Band"....that was the mantra about them in the 70's

They used to pass out cards and signs trying to downplay the Debbie Harry/Blondie as being the the sole front person. "Blondie is a Band" was what they were selling back then. Debbie Harry even let the blond out of hair to the natural brown look to de-emphasize her status. What was silly was the effort to play up the band and then they tour and how do they start the show? Why, the band comes up and takes their places and then Harry comes out alone afterward. I heckled the whole show at the obvious crap they were selling. Now, they just state the obvious....I am the fake blond selling point to the band.
