Say something bad about Dio
The lyrics could be unbearably pretentious at times, and the songwriting really went downhill after "Holy Diver".

2. Yes, but "nobody rocks harder... for America!"
And the Rainbow albums (when RJD was in the band) RULE!

4. The only thing I ever thought was genuinely bad about Dio
Was his hair weave. He was the penultimate heavy metal singer, for what it's worth (whether you liked what he was doing or not, he was gifted and technically adept). But that hair ...

And even at that, Kevin DuBrow, of Quiet Riot, had a worse one, so it wasn't even the worst fake hair in heavy metal.

5. Dio has a reputation as being a complete egomaniac and control freak
I was a huge Dio fan while growing up in the '80s, and he was notorious in the metal press for it.

He's short! Ha! Take that, Ronnie James Dio! You're a short man!

7. dio was to black sabbath........
...as hagar was to van halen.....

not the original.....

but i have to say "heaven and hell" was a very, very good album, and "mob rules" is probably the heaviest sabbath song ever made....

i saw him a few times in the mid 80's...he puts on some good shows. there was one in particular though, that really stands out...

dio's opening act was a band called rough cutt....typical 80's hair band..nothing special...they were all right for an unknown band. thing about them was that the lead singer was doing dio's ex-wife, who was still dios tour manager and apparently rough cutt's as well...anyhow, rough cutt is playing to the crowd, and has pretty much won them over...they weren't half bad...the singer though, was obviously drunk or very high, and during this little impromptu rap session w/the audience he was trying to light a cigarette, basiclly making a big to-do about it. noticing all of the lighters lit up in the audience, he chimes out "ANYBODY IN SHREVEPORT GOTTA' LIGHT???". out of the blue, about 500 lighters were thrown at him from the audience...he was getting pelted...sounded like homer simpson..."eww...ahh...damn...d'oh...owww...shit...d'oh..."untill the lighter barrage was over....then he picked one up, lit his ciggy...said "thanks you guys...guess i dont need to buy any more bics this year"...and continued on. he seemed to take it pretty well.
