You mean that's not...?
Songs I initially thought were by other artists:

THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN, Thin Lizzy (Bruce Springsteen)
DON'T FEAR THE REAPER, Blue Oyster Cult (The Byrds)
EMOTIONS, Samantha Sang (The Bee Gees)
THE END, Earl Grant (Nat "King" Cole)
EVERY BREATH YOU TAKE, The Police (Jackson Browne)
GIVE A DAMN, The Staple Singers (The 5th Dimension)
I'M A FOOL TO CARE, Joe Barry (Fats Domino)
IT'S ONLY MAKE-BELIEVE, Conway Twitty (Elvis Presley)
JACK AND JILL, Ray Parker, Jr. (Sly & The Family Stone)
LET'S DANCE, Chris Montez (Ritchie Valens)
LET'S GO, LET'S GO, LET'S GO, Hank Ballard (Chubby Checker)
LIES, The Knickerbockers (The Beatles)
RELEASE ME, Esther Phillips (Dinah Washington)
ROCK ME GENTLY, Andy Kim (Neil Diamond)
SHEILA, Tommy Roe (Buddy Holly)
SMOKEY PLACES, The Corsairs (The Drifters)
SNAP YOUR FINGERS, Joe Henderson (Brook Benton)
WESTERN MOVIES, The Olympics (The Coasters)
YOU AIN'T SEEN NOTHIN' YET, Bachman-Turner Overdrive (The Who)
YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'VE GOT (UNTIL YOU LOSE IT), Ral Donner (Elvis Presley)

In case you haven't guessed, the artist I though I was hearing is in parentheses.

1. Hi Night Train!
the reason why 'Emotions' sounds like the BeeGees is because they are singing backup, IIRC.

2. trekkerlass is right ...
The Bee Gees did sing backup on Emotions ... and they wrote the song, so that explains the sound.

IT'S ONLY MAKE-BELIEVE, Conway Twitty ---
I always thought that was Elvis, too. I was surprised to find out it wasn't.

LIES, The Knickerbockers ---
Same here ... I thought it was The Beatles until I realized it never appeared on any Beatles greatest hits CD, LOL!

3. Well, I know that now!

I did not, however, know it when "Emotions" first came out in 1977.

For all intents and purposes, "Emotions" was a Bee Gees record. Samantha Sang was little more than a figurehead. Guess that makes her the George W. Bush of '70s pop!

5. LOL! I guess we all know it now ...
Samantha Sang was a front for the BeeGees!

Did she ever have any other hits? I don't remember any ... I guess the BeeGees dropped her when they realized no one could tell there was a female singer in the mix. Why split the royalities? B-)
