Thoughts on the bulldozer guy...
Sir, I salute you.

Any crazy cracker can just grab a gun and start shooting people. That is SOOOO last year.

You, sir, on the other hand plotted. You planned. You worked at it.

You built your own armored tank using double-sheets of half-inch steel plates with a concrete layer between them. You mounted rifles. You picked your targets with care. You didn't kill anyone but yourself, either.

You showed flair and style. You put your heart (and eventually your brain) into it.

Yes, Mr. Heemeyer, I salute you. Well done!

1. Yes... He apparently took great pains not to hurt anyone...
Too bad his inventiveness couldn't have been harnessed to provide the same armoured protective vehicles for the troops in Iraq.

A tremendous waste, though.

WASHINGTON (AFP) - A businessman with a grudge against local zoning authorities went on a rampage in an armor-plated bulldozer, demolishing shops and buildings in the Colorado ranch town of Granby before fatally shooting himself, law enforcement officials said.
...

Heemeyer, a welder by trade, fitted a 54-tonne industrial bulldozer with heavy steel plates, welding himself into an impregnable bulletproof cocoon, authorities said.

He then proceeded to plow the earthmover into the cement plant that was the focus of his rage, according to authorities. He later targeted the town hall, the library, a bank, the town's newspaper offices, an electricity cooperative building, a department store, an excavating business and a house owned by the town's former mayor.

Police said Heemeyer repeatedly fired what appeared to be a .50-caliber weapon at a group of propane tanks in a failed attempt to trigger an explosion.

7. Indeed
but it's refreshing to see anger channeled into a real project. Blind rage is the order of the day. I admire the cool, well-planned revenge.

Well, if a .50 caliber weapon won't set off propane tanks, then what will?

11. well
to be fair, they were mounted inside the "tank" and weren't maneuverable. I suspect he just missed the tanks.

Some guy who got pissed about some zoning issue built up an armored bulldozer and tried to level out a town. Destroyed 9 buildings before committing suicide.

10. well
I'm not saying I approve of what he did. I approve of the way he did it.

If you ARE going to go on a violent rampage, then he chose the right way to do it.

12. No really
I liked it too. The courts only give justice to rich people who can get a good lawyer. I was impressed by this guy. He didn't hurt any living people. The physical property of the system seems like fair game. hehe

13. While talking to my mom about this topic...
she told me, "he should have waited till the early morning, that way there would be less people awake to stop him."

Both of us thought it was pretty interesting how he targeted buildings which belonged to the people who were on the city council.
