Surprisingly.

Makes a big thing out of DU shells.

Calls the current Administration to task for lackadaisical attitudes.

It is a must-see, and I can't imagine that the White House isn't suddenly very pissed at Fox.

In an ironic twist a few weeks a few Duers were posting lists of RW celebs to boycott. I thought that was wrong(not a big believer in boycotts targeting individuals), even ineffective since the companies paying those actors have a larger effect on the populace.

Now they're flocking to give Murdoch dollars at the box office (Day After Tomorrow) and ratings with Nielsen.

11. OK, it got the politics right, the rest is hooey.

As for the melt-down scenario, its a joke. I'm sorry, it just is. Just for openers, Blowing a hole into the control room wall, without killing everyone in it. The magic cell phones are great too. Gotta get me a few of those, then I can get rid of all the expensive private network phones and repeaters.

Also, if RCS pressure was down to 1100 pounds, the ISO (Independent system operator, the folks that run the grid) outside the plant would already know its condition. In order to get that low in pressure the turbine would be tripped and the plant would go from a source to a drain. Also automatic Safety Injection would need to be blocked, as most plants have HPSI setpoints well over 1700 PSIA.

I could go on all night,.

12. The point is, terrorists could be capable of entering a nuclear facility

easily...AND as it turned out the terrorists were GI JOES..proving how it can be done easily and how ill prepared Homeland Security is to deal with an inhouse catastrophic event like this one.

Delta Force, GI JOES dying of Depleted Uranium poisoning they received while in Afghanistan. Demonstrating how vulnerable we are, without our National Guard to protect us.

The story is entirely plausible.

Especially, the part about the government lying to the public.

If this movie wasn't a wakeup call illustrating the severe deficiency's in the Security of our country because of the present administration. I don't know what is..

13. You may be right about the science of it,

but I think the point was more simple-how easy it was for them to get into the plant and take it over and how woefully unprepared we are for this sort of attack. There are no real evacuation plans and security for nuclear and chemical plants is pretty much a joke.

As for this being made by and airing on FOX, they even had a fake news crawl on the bottom of the screen and all the news reports in the film were FOX. (In the film "The Day After Tomorrow", also a FOX product, it's the same-all the news reports in the film are FOX news.) Pretty funny, actually, considering these two films are critical of the administration, and in real life, FOX wouldn't criticize this administration even if you held a gun to its collective head.

on so many levels, it was amazing. The entire script was an indictment of the Bush terror team's phony 'war on terror.'
