Are there any jobs out there now?
I just got in a fight with my mother because I have stopped looking for work even at crappy jobs. I don't know what to say. I just hate my life so much. I cannot continue this way.

2. Do what I did
Get your phonebook. Find every decent restaurant in a ten mile radius. Apply to every one. Find every staffing agency you qualify for in a fifteen mile radius. Sign up at every one. Find every store that sells things you have even a mild interest in, and inquire about jobs--get applications and turn them in. Once you have done these things, if all have failed to get you a job, you start going to every single place you can possibly find.

All this can take about one month, if done expeditiously. It took me FOREVER to summmon the willpower to do it, but I was so happy once I was employed, I wished I had started a month earlier.

9. This is terrible.
I cannot get a job that does not involve solicitation. I am getting demoralized by this. I am getting in fights with my parents because I cannot find work and I am too demoralized to try. I don't know if I can sustain any kind of job and I feel that I cannot even function in society. I cannot deal with this anymore. I hate my life so much. My mom thinks that she is helping by getting into fights with me.

4. Healthcare

My husband has duel credentials in a couple areas within the medical field. Today he interviewed for a better position just kind of on a lark and it looks like he's going to likely get it (not totally sure yet). It's the most secure field out there right now.

Even entry level positions don't pay too terribly. Take an EMT course or something and you'll have something secure quickly.

5. Of course there are!
Problem is, they're all taken. Or about to be eliminated.

6. Nope
I just got my master's in chemical engineering - not so much as an interview or phone call in the six months I've been looking.

7. It's picking up
Sent out resumees all year with only 1 bite and it closed before an interview. I have one tentatively scheduled for Friday but that was before the news about closings. Lots of programming jobs but that's not what I want to do.

My brother just landed a new job last week and he said that it took a month after he submitted his resume until he got an interview.

8. Where are those programming jobs?
I live in Philly, and almost all the ads are "guest worker justification filler" -- a company puts an ad in the paper looking for someone with impossible credentials (say, 10 years' experience in .Net) and when they can't find anyone, they get the OK to import some programmers they can pay $15 an hour to do work that they'd otherwise be paying $75 an hour for.

Of course, Philly is the world capitol for the pharmaceutical industry, which might explain it.

I'm in the county with the highest employment rate in the country. Even McDonalds ain't hiring...
Hang in there. It WILL get better.
I hate being so optimistic.

11. I cannot wait that long.
I have had it. I don't want to deal with this anymore. I am tired of getting into it with my parents who only make things worse.
