If Reagan is not put on the $10, an alternate proposal is to have half the nation's dimes carry Reagan's face, with the other half continuing to honor Franklin D. Roosevelt.

The idea of removing Roosevelt from the dime altogether in favor of Reagan had enough opposition, even from Nancy Reagan, to be dropped, USA Today reported.

But the Gipper's fans think giving equal time to Reagan and FDR strikes an appropriate compromise.

Just like the commemorative "state quarters"... or the commemorative "Louisiana Purchase" nickel or the Lewis & Clark nickel.

Give Reagan a commemorative 1-year quarter... then be done with it. Collectors will snatch them up in no time at all... The coins will effectively be REMOVED from circulation and I won't have to look at his ugly mug every time I want to buy a can of soda.

by a generation of people who didn't directly support him and who didn't directly oppose him.

Such efforts to memorialize Reagan is more to ANNOY democrats and Reagan critics than to honor Reagan himself. Trust me... this is FACT.

You know it. I know it. Reagan supporters know it (but won't admit it.)

Give it time to rest and see how history judges Reagan and see what type of memorial is appropriate.

This "Reagan-on-a-coin" movement is just a fad.

The Ike dollar was appropriate because he was the Supreme Allied Commander in WWII as well as President.

Roosevelt led the March of Dimes against Polio, so putting him on the dime was also appropriate.

The Kennedy half dollar probably wouldn't have been done if they waited another year or so. It was shoved through right after the assassination.
