Tonight, I boycotted a Freeper-owned business

When suppertime rolled around this evening, I pulled my delivery vehicle into a buffet-styled restaurant that I had never been to before. As I neared the front entrance, I noticed a big papaer American flag in the window. I rolled my eyes but didn't think twice about it. After all, you see Old Glory everywhere nowadays. Besides, I was hungry.

However, when I walked into the restaurant, what should I see taped to the wall of the cashier's station but this computer-generated sign:

WAR: THOSE WHO WON'T FIGHT FOR DEMOCRACY AND FREEDOM SHOULD MOVE TO A COUNTRY WHERE THERE IS NONE.

As I felt myself becoming outraged, the hostess came up to me and asked in a singsong voice, "Hi, how many in your party?"

"None," I replied.

She gave me a confused smirk. "None? What do you mean, none?"

I pointed to the sign. "As long as you're displaying that fascist propaganda behind your cash register, I'll never spend my money at this place. In fact, I'll tell my friends not to, either."

I turned around and walked out, half expecting the manager to chase after me and call me a traitor, or some such bullshit. That didn't happen, though. I simply got into my delivery vehicle and had a roast beef pita at the D'Angelo's down the street. Not only was the meal deeply satisfying, they had no right-wing propaganda on display!

I think it's going to be a good weekend.

1. Well
You voted with your dollars. These conservatives love capitalism so much, as should we: it gives us the right to make choices with the money we spend. We choose as consumers not to patronize businesses that openly support jingoism.

2. The hostess only works there - you should have asked for
the manager. They probably have your picture for future reference.

3. Thank you for standing up
for your convictions. I hope the bewildered hostess managed to repeat it verbatim to her manager, but I suspect they don't get it.

4. I Have also boycotted a Freeper owned business
These people have never read the Patriot act1 or 2, and are fucking clueless ultra Jingoism. These bumper sticker Patriots would have trouble distinguishing a TV guide and the constitution..

5. Good For You!
I try to vote with my dollars too. Not that I have that many anymore!

You should write them a letter telling them why you won't eat there. If they give you any response it will be that they don't want scum like you eating there. That's a lot of bull. It's hard to run a restaurant in this economy, and losing business hurts.

7. I have too
I used to stop at a little place on my way to work for a breakfast sandwich until one morning I noticed the Faux network on his TV. I told him that network wouldn't know the truth if it jumped up and bit Bill O'Really in the ass. He said that those people were "true Americans". I told him "this true American" is shopping elsewhere for his food and left. I should've known better when he charged a homeless guy 75 cents for an empty cup.

9. Ddin't you hear? Boycotts are un-American
unless you're boycotting Pepsi for hiring Ludacris as a spokesman.

At least, that's what O'Reilly, Savage, et al claim.

12. Ludacris is a rapper whom Pepsi had hired
for a marketing campaign earlier this year. And O'Reilly, being the bigot he is, implored his viewers to boycott Pepsi until they dropped him. Eventually, they did.

Of course, this is the same O'Reilly who, when it related to boycoots launched by Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, earlier claimed that boycotts were "un-American." And, famously, Michael Savage sued a Web site that advertised a boycott against him on behalf of GLAAD (curiously, he didn't sue GLAAD itself, which likely has the $$$ to defend itself). Savage's claim was that they were trying to deprive him of a living; curiously, he didn't rise up in outrage when O'
Reilly launched his Ludacris boycott, and outrage. warranted or not, is Savage's stock in trade.

13. Ludacris was too obscene
So they hired Ozzie Osbourne to replace him!

At least Ozzie is white (though in his defense, through no fault of his own)

19. That sign says we should move to the USA then
Given Patriot Act and the upcoming Patriot Act II (expect a terror act devised or allowed by Bushco* to happen just before they work on it which'll terrify the wussies in congress to blindly pass it into being as well...), along with the electronic voting farce, it's clear they want us to move to the USA: Land of no freedom or democracy.

yes, we should fight for democracy and freedom. Fight when we're being invaded or attacked. Pre-emptive bullying is repulsive and is the antithesis of freedom. Our freedom cannot be bought by the destruction of everyone else. (then we have to define "freedom", which in Bushco's case is corporate freedom, and we've all seen the effects of that. :scared: )

Papa Gino's/D'Angelo's Sandwiches is a major contributor to The Concervative Caucus according to this...

and I have several other websites which show their CEO is a wingnut too.

What is worse, the ones who wear it on their sleeves, or the ones who hide it and smile in your face when they take your money?

25. If only everyone had the sense (and the balls) to do that!
The right-wing creeps wouldn't have a prayer.

And I love the fact that what you did is the epitome
of their supposedly beloved "free market" economics.
You're free to spend your money wherever you like -
pure Milton Friedman, baby! Of course they hate it
when it's used against them - but that just shows
what hypocrites they are. They have freedom of speech,
you have freedom of choice - it's a beautiful thing.

This a good example of how we progressives really are,
despite the right-wingers claims that we "hate America,"
the true heirs of Adams, Washington, and Jefferson.
